"I'm trying to be a goddamn believer but the road to heaven is full of potholes." Just beautiful, Jason.

Is it bad that I never really wanted to get saved? And laughing when hurt was my thing? Well I'm thinking I want to I don't really want to yes I really want to So let me go now! So let me go now! Champing the bit for nutrition's sake I'd rather burn out than/then fade away Die young then/than live forever [Chorus] (2x) I'm gonna raise hell until it's high enough to be heaven Then maybe you can find me (there) They told me if I look up They told me I would find you there What if I say that mutually exclusive ain't a thing? Now God and Darwin are ashamed Well, I'd like to reconsider you can't reconsider let me reconsider So what you're saying is - for me, you're saying that The stairway to heaven is more like a slope? And I will slip to a fiery death if I don't believe in Satan? [Chorus] (2x) They said there's no such thing as an atheist in a foxhole I'm trying to be a god damned believer but the road to heaven's full of potholes They said he talks like a christian but walks like an atheist (3x) I'm gonna raise hell until it's high enough to be heaven Then maybe you can find me (there) maybe I can find you Hoping I can find you (2x) They told me if I look up they told me I would find you there If I look up to find you then how can I deny you? (2x) Talks like a christian but walks like... Talks like a christian but walks like an atheist [Outro] And I heard them talking, I hear what they're saying They're saying there are no martyrs anymore. None So, I'ma choose. I'ma make a choice to give myself away Something bigger than myself, and my name... it's for others In the wake of my...of my...of my death There were no martyrs until he gave himself away Giving your life is the only way to make them see And once you're gone, they'll realize death is the only way To die for your cause is the most effective way to propagate Make me a martyr make sure the books they read my name A gun to my head, a hair trigger with the worst of aim Flirting with death, but I'm married to my selfish ways See, I'd die for something, but then I wouldn't get to see the fame To be a martyr you mustn't die a death in vain I'd kill myself, but suicide is so cliche Heavenly father, does heaven have a place for me Or will I get there only to learn St. Peter has misplaced the key? Right down the middle polarity right down the middle That's where we'll meet them all After you kill one, well there's thousands more And there's thousands, fucking thousands make about a million more so We got an army, for us versus them And I'm not afraid cos, well.. (no) We got an army of us versus them but look, it's not us versus them It's just us, my friend, It's plural Stop wondering and start acting, stake your claim (hahaha, I'm just playing) They say there's no place for you here, so you better make one (And that's the lesson for today, boys and girls. Ladies and gentlemen I've been your presenter, your exhibition, your example So, it's about time, I go and take my own life I'm just fucking with you, haha, oh shit)

On the original release it wasn't. The re-release on Epitaph added three b-sides to the album. Day 54 is the original inteded end to the album.

don't know if I'm being captain obvious but 27 club is for all the artists that died at 27; cobain, hendrix, etc
@LennyVenom11 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't think any of it is intentional. I can only assume it's a reference to the famous '27 club', the long list of celebs who died at 27. Of course, I could be wrong.

This band is incredible. It's fair to say that I'm obsessed with this album, and this song really hits home for me. The lyrics are haunting and the thing I've found with letlive is they're different, you know, they're not your typical metalcore band or anything. They sing about something real and the songs are endlessly catchy. I'm in love. Well done to letlive. I hope they become the next huge band because they really deserve it. Mind blowing band.

Just finished my first listen through the album. Holy hell. I thoroughly enjoyed Fake History and they made me a fan with that album. This....this is on a different level. Every. Single. Song...is just such an emotional ride. They somehow make me feel every riff, melody, lyric, and drum beat as if I'm hearing 'hardcore' for the first time. Thanks to letlive. for saving rock and roll for me.

Assuming that Jason was born in 1986 (Renegade '86) he would be 27 now (his birthday being in July) So fingers crossed he can avoid this 27 club curse

Sort of. He's said the song's about a few things, one of them being the concept, "Will you die selflessly for a cause you believe in, or will you live your life selfishly for yourself?" It also deals with Mutual Exclusivity, and people who solely subscribe to either faith or science, and see the world as black-and-white.

The song is about Jason turning 27 and wanting to die for something he believes in. The 27 club is all the famous musicians n stuff that died at the age of 27 whether that was suicide or drug ODs or just random deaths. Sort of explains the song a little idk.
that's usually the case that I don't like a song straight away but it grows on me by the second listen this album is a huge exception.

It ain't quite Fake History but there is no doubt in my mind that letlive. have delivered an incredible album. Bands have to do something a little different to stay exciting and keep you hooked and I think they have done this perfectly. I wouldn't want them to try and do another Fake History because there is no way they can top it, that would be disappointing if they tried and failed.

Hmmm, Every song on Fake History is in the top half of my '25 Most Played' songs on itunes. But I think for this album, only this song and Banshee will be joining them. The rest of the album is good, but it isn't the perfection that Fake History was.
