The yellow towel Jess was wearing before she went missing, the rooms the girls are staying in are painted yellow on the outside, Jess' lighter is yellow, of course the yellow snakes and even the Blink Twice title is yellow. Zoe really put alot of thought into this work of art which I appreciate as a film snob.
@syren473118 күн бұрын
I felt bad for Lucas. He was 100% a victim along with the girls. Slater said he didn't try to help them but I don't think that's true... When the girls were running and screaming, we see Slater going after Lucas and telling him to "grow up" because Lucas' reaction to the girls being violently assaulted was childish to Slater. I don't think he didn't want to help them... He woke up the next day with a black-eye. I think he was confused and outnumbered - and the way the perfume works is that the person forgets _traumatic_ memory meaning that seeing what was happening to the women affected him deeply enough for it to be erased. He wasn't a fighter that much was obvious, I was sorry he died. And Jess too. Heather and Camilla died but at least they got a bit of revenge before kicking it. If anyone stood by, watch it all happen and did nothing, it was Stan the security guy. He didn't actually SA the girls but he certainly didn't help them.

@syren473111 күн бұрын
@@OlikGer I think you might be right because it is so like Slater to gaslight Lucas into believing he was just as bad as the rest of the men when he might've been a victim too. Slater was good at gaslighting, he kept doing it to the girls by asking them "Are you having a good time?" and they all had to reassure him by saying "Yeah I'm having a great time!" It was also a way to check that the girls were forgetting what was happening to them and would eventually not remember at all. Then, when Frida was bound up in front of him and he was screaming "I'm sorry" in her face, the scene played off as if he thought HE was the victim because she wouldn't forgive him. He acted as if he was doing the girls such this huge favor by making them forget. He truly was a heinous character. But it was played off in an unserious way.
@sarahkraatz22909 күн бұрын
@yes!!! He was also being given the perfume (maybe in a different form?), because in the r@pe memory scene, you see him with one of the men!! I need to rewatch, but when they show all the victims tied up with their partners, you see two men!! He didn’t remember because he didn’t get the venom that the women were giving out. So that’s why he’s apologizing for the men’s behaviour, he didn’t “know”. I thought his character was great as a symbol for the men that see what’s happening but chose not to say or do anything to protect themselves and keep the wheel of patriarchy spinning.

This ending reminds me of midsommar. Florence Pugh’s character chose to kill her bf, which completes her arc and gives us a sense of retribution, but in the end he didn’t deserve to die. In the same way, Freda deserves revenge, but that doesn’t mean that she should do the thing we see as evil when he does it but good when she does it.

He was a bad bf, but you are right that he wasn’t evil like this dude. That’s why leaving him in the fire would be a fitting end. It keeps him from committing evil. Also my point never was that it doesn’t make sense for Freda to take over, it overall would make sure others do use the island for evil things, but she uses the same method of control, furthering its misuse. Another video I saw on this talks about the cyclic nature of trauma. Slader was hurt as a kid, which probably cause his need for control, hurting Freda, then her trauma causes her to take it out back on a now harmless slader, trading their positions. This is why even though it’s satisfying, it’s still evil. In its most basic level, it shows a persons abuse of power used to hurt others, then flipping the power dynamic to create another abuse of power that hurts another person. While her abuse seems to be less, she is only controlling him, it still is the exact same abuse.

My wife put this movie on last night. I knew absolutely nothing about it. I actually was suprised at how much I was enjoying it lol. The 2nd act kind of gets comedic (makes sense, the movie was getting dark af lol) but by the 3rd, I was rooting for all the girls lol. It was a fun watch.

I wanted to know what the timeline of forgetting by the drug is. Like they forget what happened night before but do they remember who they are ,their friends and family are? How did they forget the friend who gets killed instantly? How much do they remember of their life outside the island when they go back? Doesn't main female lead have any family who wondered why she was missing?

She said money gives a false sense of safety, so in the context of the movie she's saying that a lot of people assume being around wealth automatically means you're safe and secure and you tend to let your guard down, which was happening in the movie. People idolize wealthy people because they live easy and polished lives but they can be just as dangerous and rough as any ordinary person.

The ending is about how taking Slater down would not stop this from happening again. The ending is about her now in a position of power to make sure that not only Slater doesn’t do this, but other people don’t do this.
@fabolousjada507017 күн бұрын
Umm no 😂 she’s horrible 😅 imo how you keep that man alive after what he did to you as a grape victim myself it’s insulting to me. She should’ve killed him period. Not let her friend die in vein. The beginning shows her crave to be rich the ending shows no matter how dirty she KNOWS the industry is she still wants to be in it to be rich as she said “ I’m finally being noticed “ to her friend that sacrificed herself. She just wanted to be notice and w.e cost. And to your point who tf she gonna stop ? Cause logically they are more rich people than her and elites. She just wanted power got abused and still wanted it. Also what’s the natives story ? Makes no sense that snakes bring your memory back. The whole movie is insulting my intelligence and grape victims

Idk ma'am. I'm so sorry for your experience and unfortunately many people's experience. But idt you can have only one reaction or only one response to trauma. I wouldn't tell someone how to feel or behave as I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to tell you. Also, I got the impression that she was gonna use him now. Which might be worse than death in some people's opinion. Or what he deserved as poetic justice. And, idk, I kind of dream that she uses her new power and wealth to stop other bad people or save others like her. Batman. 😏 Good bless you. 🧡

The scene where Channing’s character is screaming “I’m sorry” over and over made me burst into tears in the theatre. I went completely blind, figured it out pretty quick but not all the details so it was still enjoyable even so. As someone who has experience D\A that scene in particular was the only one that really truly got me. Halfway through it stopped sounding like Channing and started sounding like my ex. Very powerful stuff.

I loved this movie so much. There were moments I was genuinely afraid yet intrigued by Channing, which I believe was the point. The chemistry between Frida and Slater was somewhat off-putting because it seemed there was real attraction there on his part, but then you learned what he's letting men do to women, and it gets murky. I will say the ending threw me a little when it was revealed they got married. Maybe because I personally wouldn't want to be with someone who abused me, but l get it drove what she said at the beginning home. I definitely don't see her as the bad guy, and I agree revenge is sometimes the best medicine. Either way, I can't wait for it to come out on dvd
