0:28 if I want to do something similar at home... Oh how I wish I could, but first I would need home to be in a place where some 60ties survive and is not extremly rusted or totally restored like here, and maybe even more important, be dirt cheap so I could afford even the most rusted junker... Maybe I will just watch this youtube series and dream a little bit 😆 Not that I am envious or anything, ok maybe a little bit, but good on you for being able! I will enjoy following along 😁 🤣 Ok, now I actually watched, and not much 60, so technically that they are all rusted away in my part of the world would not matter, still going watch as seems an interesting build!

Hey Matt. I’ve been waiting for this video. Did you know the Sahara 80s have a viscous transfer case which may suit your needs better. My 105 does spin the front quite easy especially in the wet when towing. Also I’m very interested in the CAD stuff.
@mattkinsela3 ай бұрын
Hey Matt. I have seen those but not had anything to do with them, do they still have a functioning diff lock and same external dimensions or are they different like the part time ones?
@MadMatt4WD3 ай бұрын
@@mattkinselayes they have a diff lock. They run a different tailshaft length. Iirc. There’s 3 tail shafts in 80s. Manual DX, auto and viscous. Also I don’t know if you can modify an AWD to be Viscous.

Can't wait for the build. What is your opinion on front radius arms vs 3 link.
@mattkinsela2 ай бұрын
Radius arm on a road car I think man, simple and works, plenty of travel when setup right. Fitting a 3 link in a car that isn’t a monster truck from America is hard!
@trevorclarke23932 ай бұрын
@mattkinsela thanks I'm putting patrol diffs in a 1952 willys pickup and have some 80 series radius arms. I was looking at some videos of you flipping them on top of the housing.
@chrisbrunini17653 ай бұрын
Great build. I assume the range rover wheelbase is smaller than the 60 series? Are you planning a chassis extension?
@mattkinsela3 ай бұрын
It’s just under 200mm so should be okay to move the diffs forward and back in the wheel arches of the chassis to suit
@noahkonstantinou31492 ай бұрын
Have you considered The land rover LT230 transfer case, all gears no chains, full time 4wd, lower low range 3.32:1 reduction available for upto 5:1, couple downsides like the intermediate shaft needing to be sleeved.
@mattkinsela2 ай бұрын
That was the first option actually mate, but cruiser transfers are easy to source, and pretty reliable, I didn’t wanna be chasing random parts for an lt230 on the side of a track one day basically, and it probably leaks being a rover part 😂
@tred1302 ай бұрын
Hey Matt, I think you need to dive deeper into the lt230 world. There companys making lsd center for them and people run 6bt cummins with stock lt230 and never brake them. There are also what's called a evolution transfer case for the ultra4 boys in the UK useing lt230 gearset but in a billet case pretty sure there made buy sycro gearboxes. Also yes there rated at 4t but have a look at the down ball weight as it's only 140kgs at the 4t tow rating.
@Bigcountry_littlelegs3 ай бұрын
How did the wheel base of the rrc chassis work with the cruiser?
@mattkinsela3 ай бұрын
60 is like 180mm longer
@Bigcountry_littlelegs3 ай бұрын
@@mattkinsela did you have to extend the rrc chassis to make it work?
