The 'LC "Prado" is NOT a more on-road version of the regular Land Cruiser. It is a LIGHT-DUTY version, meaning it is not set up for towing, hauling heavy loads, etc. It is therefore a bit lighter, with a bit better ground clearance from a smaller rear differential, and a bit better articulation/more confortable with the coil springs rather than leaf springs of the 'heavy-duty' land cruiser. These changes actually make it a very slightly better off-road performer, compared to it's heavy-duty cousin.

Thanks for the added input on that!

It’s the solid front axle that makes the biggest difference.. all subsequent Prados came with ifs.

Lovely vehicle! I would argue that softer suspension is actually more suited to off-road and detrimental to on-road handling.

Yes, it also has better ground clearance from a smaller rear differential (8 inch v. 9.5 inch) compared to the heavy duty version. With the lighter 4 cylinder turbo (1kz) compared to the straight six 1hz, this is a bit better off-road performer than the heavy duty 70 series.

The vent is not really just for the rear doors. It's for all doors. All cars have vents, but most companies hide them. The mirror on the fender has NOTHING to do with it being RHD. The mirror is so in Japan they can see how close they are to the curb, since parking is at a premium there with their narrow roads.

The prado wasn’t entirely a budget cruiser built more for onroad thats actually a huge misconception The Prado is meant to carry over the bells and whistles from the station wagon series (e.g 200,100,80 series) and put them in something the size of the 70 series Land Cruiser since the station wagon series has gotten huge in the 90’s and onwards and the 70 series has been and still is very bare bones and agricultural (seriously you can still option one without a radio or electric windows) It may not be appearant in this gen but in the 2nd generation and onwards Toyota made it clearer This thing is every bit as tough and capable as a 70 and station wagon series, nothing to scoff at, in fact the UN uses Prados alongside the 70 series in African countries, not the 200 or 300 as those are far too large and not as nimble offroad. (Station wagon series are still used by the UN in other countries however)

6:50 every car has these vents, or else the doors wouldn’t be able to slam close bc of the air pressure. On pickups, it’s behind the cab hidden by the bed, on cars/suvs, it’s hidden inside of the rear bumper. It’s invisible on almost ever car so nobody knows it exists until one day they find out like I did 😆
@readysetrev6 ай бұрын
Haha sure thing! I'm intrigued how you found out? Lots of times its when the rear window blows out after it gets clogged.

Wanted to say another great video`s loving your content so far Looking forward to more Ram content/Updates Waiting somewhat patiently lol. Wanted to say about these older Yoda`s from early to mid 90`s they were pretty good my Uncle swore by them 4 runner`s with the 4 or 6 he slapped a Turbo on the 4cyl and if you keep them RPM`s up and the 32" wheels on her it would go places only the Jeeps could in our bush runner mud group Over here in Muskoka Canada. Would like to see how capable This Prado would be in some deep snow or a bit of mud with aggressive lug`s on it but can understand this one was pretty damn clean to beat on too hard. Seems like she needs a small turbo like almost all the early Yoda`s.

still drive my 30plus year old prado70.. compared to the heavyduty 70 this is actually morecomfortable easiervto maintain and has power windows mirrors and sunroof while the other hd70 doesnt..off road capability is at par if not bettervas coil sprung solid axles flex more than that of leaf sprung ones which was actually purposed as a utility cargo vehicle so i would say this is a more premium trim considering the body shell is the same one as the hd70

@readysetrev No, they are not. What you are driving is a first-generation Prado, while the 4Runner is different. Even the old-generation 4Runner was related to the Hilux. Should have done your research better Again, stick with the unknown 4Runner
