Hey Team,
Today, were gonna finish up drianing the wave pool. Partial drain was completed with a gravity drain, and now we must drain the rest with a pump.

All that water being discharged into the sanitary may be helping the city flush any sediment and other "spare parts" out of the bottom of some of the sewer lines and towards the treatment plant... Not a bad thing really.

With draining such a large amount of water into the sanitary sewer, do you have to contact the city ahead of time so they know to expect a larger influx and can properly handle it?
@thepoolguy

The city is able to manage 4 million gallons daily. Their typical usage is about 1.5 from the city. So my quarter of a million is fine.

@@thepoolguy That's also a storm sewer, which can handle enormous influxes of water, because it is (or at least it should be) designed to handle the "100 year" storm, the kind of storm which is so large it only occurs at that magnitude about once every 100 years. Storm sewers can handle far larger influxes than the traditional sewer system, because storm sewers aren't routed through a treatment plant because the majority of water that goes through it should not contain much if any human waste, that and the kind of chemicals and things in the water (think oil from road runoff, fertilizers and pesticides and such from irrigation runoff, and acids and such from the rain, as well as chlorine from pools like yours) can easily kill off the bacteria in a sewage treatment plant that is needed to process the human waste. Long story short, if your pool is large enough to completely inundate the storm sewer system, then the city designed a pretty shitty storm sewer system

i had to drain a water ride at a theme park i worked at, we didnt have a self drain system, we had to throw a submersible pump into the surge tank, with its pipe down a sanitary drain, it took pretty much all night to drain what was left in the tank by morning, when the submersible pump shut itself off, we used a wet-vac to get out, i was down inside that tank sucking up water, then lifting the wet vac out to a friend, who was tipping it down the drain that was a water slide, so, the reason we had to drain our ride was, we called in a contractor to seal the gaps between the slide sections, unfortunately their sealant reacted with the chlorine, and separated it from the water, and the dust was making the water cloudy, and it would have stuck to peoples clothes if they had gone down the slide it was a wide slide where customers ran down it in inflatable rafts, in their normal clothes
