The way it's modded, it's introduced common mode power supply noise into the microphone that the capsule will pick up. That's why you're getting much higher power hum noise and much lower sensitivity. Shame the mod didn't work so well, but there's a reason all those electronics are in there in the first place. Good vid, though. Thanks for posting your experiences with the mod.

The 50 hz noise is your building power generating noise. You need a notch filter on your equipment.

good night friend, what is the reference of the three original resistors of this behriger ecm8000? I saw that it wasn't the same one that was in the schematic you showed.

What's the reason to have a mic with compensation file when you then change the hardware anyway...

Great video! It inspires me to do some work. I think I might try the Mark Fauxman mods, or just some other design using only the body, with a new circuit board.

Question: Can you put the new WM-61a capsule in *WITHOUT* changing anything on the circuit board?

Uh, how about testing your equipment at least with static position and actual measurement signal, like a pink noise?!?

Really cool video, nice flow and pace, and truth. really good vid. . . Recording engineer here , my comment is > man that gain is very sus. you should be able to easily change the gain. Double check with a multimeter that R1 is indeed 10k. According to the schematic you show @ 2:10 , I would swap out that R1 value for half. . wait wait wait ,, um,, that is IF everything else is correct. My instinct tells me the FET is not doing its fet thing, or those transistors aren't getting juice or the capsule is bunk/different. Otherwise>> That zener might more sensitive than you think (10v vs 12v) or it could be backwards lol ,, You should totally double check things before changing the value of that resistor though. Put in the old capsule and see if the gain is closer to normal. Feel free to ask questions. im not gonna look into it unless u say somethin, caz this vid is ancient/ u might have moved on by now... your studio reminds me of me when I started out

omg....motion sickness from jerking the cam everywhere. You HAVE to remember us viewers don't see the panning back and forth the way you do. It's taxing. It takes more time, but easier on our eyes and minds if you hold it more steady and be deliberate when moving the cam. Practice and your vids will improve.

That’s a measurement mic, meaning you use it to target the noise of your sound so that you have an the idea to deduct the particular noice captured by this mic as I understand. It’s not for recording.
