The ultimate joystick-killer. We loved it so much!

Fantastic memories of playing this on the Commodore 64, absolutely fantastic conversion and came back to this many, many times. I remember one time something must have gone wrong with the game, I threw 112 metres on the discus lol, never happened again. This was one of many David Crane games which were utterly fantastic on the 64.

Nice video. I like that you talked about all the controllers that can be used. I had never thought of using the trackball controller for this game or Track & Field! That's a cool idea.

Yep.. about the only game I actually got some of my family to play when I was a kid. We always used the joysticks and it was challenging and funny as hell!

As the video states this game works great and is compatible with the 3 button controller included in Atari’s Track & Field for the 2600. The Track & Field controller is built like a tank and with real arcade leaf switches and is designed for button mashing/abusing.

My brothers and I figured out a way to interface the Atari 800 to the joystick port and simulate fast running.

I used a circuit of my Tandy electonic board (worden box like thing, with components (caps. transistors, solar cell, resistors etc.. ) fixed on a carton board and with little springs for (different circuits by) wire connetors) ... :-) ... a circuit which operated the (continiouesà opening and closing of a relais... the opening and closing of the relais I used to trick the imputs of the running action... then had only to push the red botton on the right moment :-) Great fun

I used to break alot of joysticks with this game. Also, get alot of blisters. David Crane was the best creator. Activision was the best video game company BACK THEN. All my favorite video games were from Activision. I wish I had all my patches I won. THOSE WERE THE OLD OL' DAYS!
