Wow, are you sure this is Homeworld? It feels like someone ate Homeworld and crapped this one out, thanks Shack for showcasing this before I spent money on it.
@TurKlack3 ай бұрын
Don't know much about the Homeworld Story, but focusing so hard on this Character of the first game and making her some sort of Prophet really ruined the Worldbuilding of the series. Especially if you consider the supposedly pretty amazing story of that other Homeworld game. The one with the Nanite Virus thing. Because of it, because of this Core Prophet nonsense the World never seems to continue after the events of Homeworld 1. It's the same story again and again.

I'm pretty sure it didn't effect the gaming industry or the story was made by then but the story really gives the vibe that it was written during the writer's strike

Glad they still have the baddies getting the coolest ships. Also, does anyone else think they leaned heavily on what they did in Deserts of Kharak. Like mentioning it a lot in cutscenes, designs for the baddies matching the galcians(don't know how to spell😅). Even go heavily on terrain in the maps. Like, don't get me wrong! I love that game. But they went crazy on this one to cement Kharak in the main lore. Like you didn't really need to go that hard. Other than that and some of the Incarnate designs looking too much like the Vaygr, I think this game is pretty cool. Needs some more work here and there. But hopefully they continue the story in dlcs

I like the fact that Imogen chose a Trojan horse style plan. It's funny how The Queen was so easy to trick. It was probably easier because she had such a big ego and wanted every single bit of power she could get her hands on. I wonder if they'll be making a Homeworld 4 telling how Imogen and the Khar-Kushan got back to Hiigara.
@jeremydale45487 ай бұрын
That would be classics Homeworld. Bringing the story full circle
@orckingi12087 ай бұрын
@@jeremydale4548 Yeah, it would. I mean the ending they chose for Homeworld 3 kind of left you on a cliffhanger. I'm sure there are many Homeworld fans out there wondering how they made it back to Hiigara without any cores, myself included.
@orckingi12086 ай бұрын
@@valeriansamborski5844 It's possible, but you never know. They may surprise you with one last game to bring the entire Homeworld story to a close. It would probably be way better than just a short DLC.

in that mission where you have to dock everyone in a hurry i hoped they fixed that dialogue line where the strike craft sacrifice themselves. like come on devs if i dock them all in time i should get atleast no dialogue about being left behind

This story felt incredibly poorly written, It's too short to actually develop any of it's plot points, you can see the tiniest framework of a great story, but that's all, just the loosest outline of what could've been great if they'd actually developed it.
@zadinal6 ай бұрын
Thanks Shack for playing. It seems just way too short, maybe I'm missing that the majority of the game is the PVP aspect like StarCraft but even StarCraft took a while to beat.

even less missions and playtime then homeworld 1. wow edit not only that but i notice the level design in 1 and two tended to be. "heres a single objective it may be hard so heres some side things around the level you can do to make it easier but really how you go about it is up to you. then add 1 or 2 hidden threats or resources they dont even tell you about for some surprises and maybe some environmental challenges to make it more unique. here it tends to be "heres 3 things you HAVE to do to win then maybe a very easy boss fight. its a lot more hand hold telling you exactly what to do and how to go about it" and theres almost never anything the breafing dosent tell you about as a surprise.

It feels like they rushed it to release. Which is kind of odd. We've been with you the past few decades, did you really think another trip around the sun would suddenly put us off? If Shack could ensure his ships had farmers on board, he could yell, "For the Lady!" as he sends them to their doom.

So Many Cutsceenes Instead of a story to service a game, this was a game to service a story, AND FAILS AT BOTH that being a game and a story of any worth. John Ramero said it best, story doesn't have to be good, but it has to be there. The writers didn't want to write for a game, they wanted to write a movie or tv show, and in their hubris and arrogance it wouldn't be a good one.

Even the cutscenes for this game are weird. Some of them are like edgy 2000's CSGO and Call of Duty montages, the art direction is all over the place. Almost as bad as the in-game cutscenes that activate while in the middle of battle, taking away your ability to command anything, and even worse giving us terrible camera angles while in the tactical overlay so you can't even see cool battles... just janky.
