A change was made to minecolonies so the residents will attempt to follow certain block types as a road. You don't need to use the decorative roads in the build wand, just constructing a gravel/stone brick road is enough and they will attempt to stay on it. You can check the config for a full list of road materials or add your own

Dire could lay out a dirt path network to work out exactly where to put roads and intersections, and then order the Builders to replace/upgrade the dirt roads to fancy roads. This method gives the colonists (especially the Builders and Couriers) the speed boost of using paths without without having to wait for his Builders to build the fancy roads.

Hey. First, I wanted to thank you for updating the S11 playlist. It really helps me follow along. Secondly, I wanted to say that while the DW20 pack is simply too large for me to enjoy comfortably (between performance and item bloat, I can't deal with it), I have created a subset modpack that I cleverly called the "DirePupper2" pack, and I am very much enjoying it.

It is much better to have the fish transported to the restaurant than ALL the worker walking ALL the way to the Restaurant every time they get hungry

I make a decorative fixture (water fountain, lava fountain, weird obelisk, etc) to put the megatorch in. Or I bury it beneath the town hall. Alternately, Immersive Engineering's lamps also prevent spawns (not as well as the megatorch) and look quite appropriate. I prefer the lamps. Just my 2 pence.

In the previous episode he gave the other builder “wooden” shovels made of stone. So at least he is consistent.

Mine Colonies would be a great match with Create Trains. Like a big SimCity type build. A farming colony on the plains, a fishing colony by an ocean, mining colony by a mountain etc etc. All interconnected by trains to a create factory city that's fabricating the parts to allow the colonies to expand and level up.

Love this mod! opposite of a magic block mod. a whole building for every function. Crusher hut = pulverizer / Smelters hut = redstone furnace. then the warehouse / currier + warehouse is all your wireing and automation.

sawmill is a great early build for teaching all the wood recipes. and a clipboard is a great tool for this mod

This was my favorite part of the 1.16 lets play. I hated not seeing it become a utopia. No Dire Goo plz until this is a metropolis

Currently trying it out as well and having a lot of fun. Looking forward to starting the next modpack with this mod. Personally favoring fortress (big ol' castle, chunk-based buildings) and cavernmegahalls (channeling the inner dwarf, needs to be downloaded).

Paths are made by just right clicking grass/dirt with a shovel.

do not bother with the premade roads. you will hate how it limits your building space.

you can click the button in the request screen to place the items in an inventory in the hut

I do love this mod, and I agree with the buildings comment. My builds, whilst slightly more decorative than yours (sorry, lol), are still blocky at times. MineColonies puts an end to that. I had such fun making my epic build in your 1.16 pack. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the 1.18 version whenever I get around to starting your new pack.

Buildings that colonists have to visit a lot such as the restaurant and houses should go in the center of town so you can minimize the time required for colonists to run to and from their job. If you build the restaurant far from all the other jobs then they will spend a big chunk of the day running to and from the restaurant

Your still on manual job selection correct? Doesnt the Tavern need someone to run it? The barrel with the clipboard on it is the interface for the Tavern.

IIRC the tavern is just a early colony building that doesn't do anything other than give the villagers somewhere to sleep before you build houses for everyone. I don't think they can eat there, you need to drop food at their feet or manually put it into their inventory until you build a restaurant

So I downloaded the pack to play some Minecolonies and the terrain gen is so broken than I gave up just one hour in. Dire, what's up with that? Same seed as you, the terrain is full of glitches and what I assume are conflicts between mods. Like I would get a village half overriden by a destroyed Minecolonies village and then half covered by whatever random mod adds random cliffs and chasms.

I'm on a different seed and the terrain is just as broken. Whatever happened with this version of the pack is really bad with terrain gen, it's made me not want to explore because it's so ugly. I was half tempted to start a colony in the JAMD dimension but I didn't want to tempt the mod conflict fates.

For the love of everything holy, please either release a raw form of your modpack or move it off of FTB and its vile overlord Overwolf. Both of those programs make me want to douse myself in gasoline and smoke a cigarette. You don't have to put it on Curseforge, which is by far a better modloader, but please make it available anywhere else. I refuse to run either of those garbage programs on my pc, which really sucks considering I am a long time enjoyer of all of your modpacks.

@@jamesseraph8813 but your still using a program that is owned by Overwolf and refusing to run the FTB launcher cuz of their partnership with Overwolf so at the end of the day your a hypocrite

@@Mar10K0ng The problem isn't that it is owned by overwolf, its that FTB requires overwolf to be running to use it. Curseforge opens overwolf when you open it, but you can immediately close it without auto-closing curseforge. Coupled with the ability to easily make my own modpacks on it, the convenience makes up for it. To be clear, I don't love curseforge as a launcher either, but it is immensly better designed than the FTB launcher is. That being said, I installed ftb, installed the modpack, then immediately copied everything over to a blank instance I had elsewhere solving the problem. Then I could close FTB and Overwolf, and kill their taskbar instances. I just hate software that isn't the program I am trying to run forcing me to run it in the background for no reason. The clutter, the mess, and the clear datamining make overwolf a garbage platform.

Very nice Can't wait to see more. colonists don't mind if the decorations overlap. and you can fill in manually as well. I'm pretty sure the category you were looking for was 'infrastructure'. that's where i get my paths from usually.
