Word of advice: Do NOT place the Megatorch in a building. Don't even place it inside the boundaries of a building. Reason? When you upgrade the building ALL blocks that are not a part of the blueprint will get removed, and you will have to place it again.

couple pro-tips for minecolonies: 1) the builder controls the entire area marked by the white lines when you build a building. Any blocks in there that don't belong get broken in an upgrade, so your mega torch needs to be outside of the build envelope or you'll have to re-place it all the time 2) Osmium tools are surprisingly low level (I think 1 or 2), and extremely high durability. 3) Lvl1 guards can wear Ars Magicka mage armor, which is way better than they can usually wear at that level 4) You can use Modular Routers with a T2 sender to stock some basics in the warehouse or in builders huts. You can use an interface to supply the router from outside the building's envelope, and then send the items wirelessly using the T2 sender. 5) Make sure you wait for "All your villagers are tucked into bed". They won't count as having slept unless they managed to physically get in a bed before the night rolls over. 6) Paths contain routing nodes that your villagers use to get around quicker. I think there's also nodes you can manually place. 7) You can totally help your villagers build. Especially if you have some terrain that needs clearing, or if a basement needs digging, mining lasers are a lot quicker than stone shovels. 8) Build a lot of builders. The main interaction you have with these peeps is by telling them to build and research stuff, having multiple builders lets them work on multiple building tasks at once, so you get denser content when there's three or four buildings going at the same time. 9) Having a big flat area to start is nice, but it looks so much better when you build into the terrain a bit. Use the terra firma staff to flatten the direct building area, but then outside the construction tape try to blend it into the existing terrain a bit.

Small tip. When they have houses, wait for all of them to get in to there beds before YOU go to sleep. If you do not, any citizen not in a bed will be counted as not having slept and they will become tired, stressed and get sick more. So at the start of the process, they do not have houses so they will get tired a lot in the first few days. So after the builders hut is done, build houses first! The city hall is not important, you can wait to build that. Get houses and food up and running, forester and then a warehouse with a delivery person.

When you level up the builders hut to level 3, you can tell him to change his building behaviour from left right left right to circle which is much more efficient.

I think it would be cool to have a create train feeding resources to the colony. You could have it feed directly into a warehouse where couriers could deliver where there is need. I noticed that if I look at the listing of requested resources with the needed resources in my inventory, instead of directly placing into the shelves or building inventory, I can provide just the requested amount of resources from my inventory by clicking the green button listed after each material. This helps to reduce overloading the building inventory with materials, which would prevent the ability to add additional items.

The biggest problem with minecolonies is if you ignore the nice visuals of the minecolony then you get next to nothing out of the colony compared to the resource input to get the colony going. Also unless you design good paths in your colony for the NPCs to follow or build them a rail network then sometimes it takes them like half of the minecraft day to get food and get to work, you can also reduce this by just building the housing next door to the building they work at. They also tend to get stuck unless you build walls around your colony and remove every hole and other obstruction in the colony

Im sure Dire figured it out again, but last time he played with this mod, he went into the config options to speed up the building operations...as that is just far too slow in the early game. Every time I play with this, I make sure to set that faster, as well as use nice standard oak buildings vs the fancy....it is too much of a pita to find all the weird resources to do the buildings when you do the fancy ones.

My personal preference would be to put the buildings closer to each other to get that crowded feeling so it starts to feel like a town or city and not just randomly dispersed buildings.

I would love to be exited that he is doing minecolonies, but i know that he wont stick with it for the time it will take. That mod takes several days and weeks to play properly, to have it develop. He wont stick with it that long. So once again we will just get the basics, a few low level houses and nothing more. To bad, i love this mod and would love to see some one do a proper series where it is the focus, not an afterthought.

Same. I really enjoy watching Minecolonies, but Dire just isn't the type of person to do it properly. One of the best things is having them become independent, have the colony produce all it needs without you. Also I like it when the colony integrates into the terrain. Dire just makes an awfully large flat platform.

For me is the instant he switches the worker assignation to manual when I lose interest in the mod, because I know he's going to do all the micromanagement that no one needs to do with this mod which it's actually the point of it, a self-sufficient village.

the agita & plum play channel has currently 2 minecolonies series going on, one where he's managing 2 separate colonies, one asian in the overworld and a warped in the nether. Another where every building is of a random style.

This mod is very cool, but I'm not sure about having it in this pack. It is exceedingly hard to automate since all blocks not already in a blueprint will be removed on build or upgrade. The insistence on using racks makes it hard for other mods to interact with inventories. This means it's not even suitable as an alternative resource generation mod. So it's one of those all-or-nothing mods, where you either only play MineColonies or you don't play it at all. It will be fun to see if Dire manages to break it though. Maybe there is a way I've just not thought of. Remote inventory access, perhaps?

Build multiple Builders and do NOT place anything important like a Mega Torch inside the boundaries of a build.
@jursamaj2 жыл бұрын
A couple months back, I was doing a Cave Factory run. It has Minecolonies, but it's entirely underground. It's a terrible combination. The builder starts building by digging out the stone, from the top of the build area down. Of course, that leave a lot of dark space for mobs to spawn, who quickly find a way out and kill the builder. Putting torches down doesn't help, because the builder immediately removes all light source that aren't in his blueprint. I spent so much time babysitting, I might as well have built the colony myself. :P
@kingplayer19272 жыл бұрын
@@jursamaj would something like a feral flare lantern have worked?
@jursamaj2 жыл бұрын
@@kingplayer1927 Maybe, maybe not. It would have to put it's lights in that upper space. And, as mentioned, the 1st thing the builder does is remove everything in the build space from the top down. And as far as it is concerned, the lights from a feral flare are things that aren't supposed to be there. *If* the builder does a significant amount of other work before rechecking the upper space, it might work. But there's still a good chance that some mob will spawn between the builder clearing the lights and the flare replacing them. It would be nice if the builder AI could be tweaked to keep the area lit during building.
