One of the best boss to learn its moveset. It was really satisfying fighting this dude with colossal weapons and finding his safe spots to attack. It feels good dodging the horse combo attack and the double slam attacks.

I was running a melee build against this guy. He is EASILY my favourite boss in the entire game (only Morgott and Rellana get close. but I have yet to beat Mesmer, and have not seen a single thing about Midra's fight either). This fight... the music is amazing, the arena is gorgeous, the attacks are so clean, it has such a good balance between offense and defense, it's challenging without being rediculous. It's arguably the most fair fight in the entire game. everything has clear tells, there is some trickery with delays but major, all attacks have a clear dodge/counter option, no build will be at a major disadvantage (except for maybe daggers, and the bear claws/martial art style, due to extremely minimal range) But all in all... that duo attack between spinning knight and dashing horse... that's the cleanest, most fun attack in the entire game to dodge.

I used about 10 larval tears and all my ancient/somber stones because each time I picked up a weapon I felt encouraged to test if it was a beast or not 😂 in fact I have a strength/dex/arcade build and make sure I have multiple weapons to rotate to if I get bored of one of them Only the backhand blades gave me that feeling, the great katana was cool (as well as the unique one) but I preferred the Nagakiba

Some play on ng+ and some started a new game entirely, i was on ng3 and this boss wooped me so many times cause it was almost always a 2 hit ko.

I do a melee build, a Iron Greatsword with blood loss on it. I've gotten to NG+7 and beaten the dlc on NG+7 with it. Like you said, in such a build, patience is absolutely the KEY!!!

I had the biggest skill issue with this boss because I am a parry main and not a dodge main. I kept getting blasted by his overheads cause of camera and placement problems. then my potato PC helped me in killing his ass by spawning him behind his fog wall.

Elden Ring fans and fans of Fromsoft (I don't know if I spelled that right) games in general: What, besides cool boss designs and slapping soundtracks, make Elden Ring GOTY? I never really understood that, and I still don't.

Uhm, maybe the absolutely massive open and dense world with interesting lore, intricately designed dungeons and a multitude of unique enemies that you can approach with literally thousands of different weapons and play styles. Amazing art direction, enemy design, music, environment, unique narrative, online scene for pvp. A better question to ask is what makes Elden ring not GOTY?

​@@maddiepilgrim3955That is understandable though. I also not a big fan of souls like before elden ring. As a non veteran soulsborne, i can say what makes elden ring good is their gameplay. Yeah soudtrack is good, character design is nice but the amount of variety build and weapon combinations is what makes elden ring special atleast to me. I never like the aesthetic of soulsborne like until i play elden ring, now everything just seems so freaking cool. In the end, not everyone gonna like elden ring, but it seems a lot of new player including me got interested and got hooked at the game.
