Will I still be able to catch up? A💡: You don’t need any previous katana martial arts experience to participate in our lessons. Seki Sensei, the instructor of the online lessons, will carefully instruct you on how to handle the katana regardless of your level. You will also be able to access all the videos of the past lessons so you can watch what every other student has learned. You can also send us videos of your progress, and Seki Sensei will be happy to give you feedback. Q❓: What is the right length of the Iaito (zinc alloy training katana) I should use? A💡: Please purchase an Iaitō at least two blocks longer than the standard length. The standard length for Seki Sensei is about 177cm, so he should use a 2.45 Shaku long katana. However, he uses a 2.6 Shaku-long katana that is supposed to be used by someone 190cm tall. If the katana is too short, it becomes too easy to draw, which is not good for training. Q❓: Can I join even if I belong to a different Ryuha style? A💡: Yes, it’s not a problem at all. The Seki Sensei himself has trained in more than five styles and various other weapons. If you don’t want others to know that you are participating, you can join the online lessons with your camera off. To have the Sensei check your progress, you can send us a video of you practicing. 🗡Join the Online Iaido Training with Seki Sensei🗡 Sign Up Here (One Lesson FREE): www.patreon.com/sekisenseiiaidotraining Interested in taking Iaido lessons directly from the 8th Dan Iaido Master with 40 years of experience in Musō Shinden Ryu, Seki sensei? I’ve started to study 2 weeks ago. Your videos are amazing I will work everyday to make step by step my progress.Jusy now I am using a poliprophilene katana made by Cold Steel. Excellent by the way. In about 6-10 months I will buy a real katana.

À great sword Master ! I'm from Belgium, and I wanted to do kenjutsu and iaijutsu... But in Bruxelles I only found kendo and iaido... So I'm very happy to find Master Seki ! Thank you for your great work.

Thank you for this video. In many of the prior ones it was difficult to tell rear foot, knee, and hip positions throughout the techniques. This is an unfortunate consequence of wearing traditional hakama while teaching/training. However, the speed of demonstration in this video and the multiple camera angles made this easier to detect.

Man this is so cool! Ive always loved kenjutsu/Iai but living in canada and being poor makes it hard to even want to try this stuff. I can now get a practice plastic katana with a sheath to try Iai skills! Thabks so much and appreciate all the work you do!

I have a question, I’m a self train person and this is two parts Question one: I know a stance is important but how do you move your legs while using your sword? Question two: when I do sideways cuts my left thumb keeps hitting my right arm and my left side cuts aren’t doing too good, is there a way for me to improve that?

Hello Seki Sensei, I have a question, would kendo work for self defense/protection. I know kenjutsu would be better at self defense but kendo also has properties that could work if manipulated to do so. Kendo does not have many if not any defensive moves but if you learn to protect those areas I think it could work. I feel that it should work at long as you have a shinai, bokken or a tough stick with you. I am excluding kendo footwork from this since it is not very practical. Thank you.

My katana is around 3 pounds, pretty heavy. Its difficult to get the whoosh sound. The sword with weight to it is very difficult to keep controlled with loose hands but its coming together slowly. I can get it to move smoothly but its hard to keep the blade angle consistent.

Does you’re Katana have a Bo-hi ?
@azarelthecreator70989 күн бұрын
@micahhurst8986 yes it has bo-hi. It is also sharpened because the way my brain works if I don't train with a sharp blade I will never learn to be careful with it.
