My Dad, Lloyd Allen, was the best dozer operator in the Northern MO area. One of the dozers he ran was a D8 Cable dozer exactly like this for my Uncle Gerald. I have sat many hours on the toolbox riding along just like this video. I also pushed down my first mile high cottonwood tree with it. Great memories. Miss my Dad!

It makes me happy that people are preserving and running this old iron. We’re spoiled with the equipment we have now. It’s good to be reminded once and a while of the past. And it’s challenges.

I don’t want to speak out of term or belittle the modern day operators but the old guys must have very d🎉fixated to work as hard and as long as they did with the old plant of yesterday year hats off to them all👍

@@howardfallfall2710 You gotta tip your hat as none of they can hear anything anymore even if they are alive. Dad died long ago but was deaf at fifty. Those big ole motors working ten to fourteen hours a day really beat on the ear drums. And long days were common to make up for the rain outs.

I filled many a fuel tank on a d8 cable Dozer, 150 gallons w/a hand crank. Had a cable pan to go with it. Rerouting the cables from blade to pan was a job. Company also had a large motor grader that was mechanical. Remember w/a smile watching the operator as he was grading roads. Doing a dance between the foot pedals and hand controls while grading. Helping the concrete crew repair the man hole covers that both machines eventually cut off.
