Yip, not to be messed with when you haven't a clue what you're doing. My heart was in my mouth watching them. Also shouting at the screen when they did anything trying to correct them lol. Need to get the correct batteries for it as they count towards the ballast of the machine. 4 x Trojan 105's or even better 125's. We have a fleet of over 1000 machines to look after.

My neighbor was always buying "stuff". And I was usually who he called to "look" at it. That meant working on it. He bought two Genie lifts at an auction. I managed to make one out of two. Some of the equipment he brought home was scary. Unfortunately, he passed about three years ago. If you have seen the floor scrubber Matt has, I worked for the competitor to Advance. Nice video.

Nice! Now that you have the red handle pin crimper you need to get the pin extraction tool. Those pins and crimper are what I use on all my avionics wiring.
@brianworley7705 Жыл бұрын
I think I saw him use the pin extraction tool, aka small flathead screwdriver. My experience with Deutsch connectors of that style, there is a little tab/lock finger that holds the pin in place. The locking wedge just presses against all the tabs to keep the pins secured in place. Simple tools are all that is needed to work on those connectors, besides the crimper.

Guy's got more balls than me for sure, reaching under/through the lift mechanism on a malfunctioning machine! Glad he made it out with everything still attached. As a side note about scissor lifts, Genie usually have a switch near the ground e-stop. It switches between ground up/down and platform controls. With it in "ground" mode platform controls are disabled, though battery indicator is still active. So you may think your joystick is borked, but it's just that function switch. Speaking of joysticks, they are typically centered by a single spring. If they are not _perfectly_ centered when machine is turned on then the lift will throw a code and refuse to move. That's there to prevent any unplanned motion, but can be _very_ frustrating since simply tilting the platform control box is often enough to upset the joystick.

If its too much hassle to fix the lift so it is safe, try this. Remove basket and scissors. Weld a regular engine hoist onto the frame. Change out the long travel jack on the hoist for a hydraulic cylinder. Now you have a powered, drive able engine hoist. You can also put a small hydraulic winch on it.

Best way to fuck up a scissor lift is to lift it from underneath. There are two slots in the back by the stairs which are designed for picking it up. The doors that swing out that contain the batteries and hydro's only have a small pivot hinge on them. I mentioned it before on Matt's channel but it must have fell on deaf ears. Most have a sticker on them [ No Lift ] right where your forks were. But I still love your channel and keep up the good work. Not my lift.🍻

Should the E stop button be a N/C contact on both ends ? I was given two free new E stops to install on my machine which was missing them both. The wires were just wired into a N/C contacts already but no switches. Just wondering if these N/C contacts were the originals. Can you use N/O contacts instead ?
@ScrappyIndustries10 ай бұрын
Normally E stops are NC that way if a wire breaks it shops up as an E stop press. If it was setup for normally open a wire could be broken and you wouldn’t know until pushing the E stop didn’t work
