Chris, I am constantly amazed by your skills. One thing I see Chris do that his buddy doesn't is he creates small piles as he drops the trees with the trucks aligned, which seems to make it easier for the dozer/operator to move them to the burn pile. It is that thinking ahead that makes the difference.

The refreshing thing about you Chris is that as talented as you are, you are happy to jump in a mini, or dozer or skid steer and do some of the support work. It's great being the big dog in the excavator doing the money work, but they'd be useless without the delivery and removal truckers, loaders, log haulers, chainsaw gang, concrete drivers etc etc.

I used a Cat 966 with a Rake on it to push it into the excavator. We had a dozer but it was a open cab. Summer time was brutal the loader had A/C and a good stereo lol

You can tell the difference when Chris takes down trees, he folds them in half and stacks them neatly. Then when he uses the dozer with the root rake, you can see the pile “roll” as he pushes it. Usually can push it much further before resetting. Watch the Bealy farm clearing job and you can see the difference.

Hello Chris - your last two videos are very interesting. They show how effective your organized clearing is. Your friend cuts the trees in a disorderly manner, which means that you need a lot more time when pushing with the dozer. Prior to that he would either rake the trees and brush with the bucket (no repurposed track loader rake attachment like this guy came up with) or leap frog piles across the site with the excavator. This guy even has the sense to put a grille on his glass.

my thots too. get a cutting torch and take off the top bars and leave the bottom rake part so the thumb could be used. I'm sure AMI would be happy to modify something like that if Chris wanted it. The new Letsdig18 excavator super brush rake (or somethin like that). make your own suggestions on what to call it.

Yeah! That rake on the excavator would be a whole lot more effective if it were slightly modified to allow the thumb to be used! It is a neat attachment but could be so much better!

When we were working with D6 - D7 or D9 international Bulldozer's out in the bush here in Victoria ( Australia ) we had a different type of root rake to what you are using , our's were full rakes & not a solid blade , so that the soil could go through but none of the limbs or stumps could . that way it was more efficient & gave us great land coverage for planting of Eucalypt or Pinus Radiata that were used in the Paper Process Mill's , whilst the Dozer's were moving in a straight line following the contours of the Terrain , we would be sitting in a Tree Planting Machine directly behind the dozer & every 10 ft we would place a small tree by hand & the machine 's rear wheels were placed at an angle to push the soil around the sapling & on we'd go ....

Too the Day 2 is clearing to make, and again is the Pinus strobus the great quality. The gigant depots to the wood falling make my anxiety if somebody hav the idea make a fire. This hills with pinientree give a horror fire!!!! The excavator to take to rake is a good idea. Your video again spitz, special the close up to the cutwoodplant. Too the Drohne make good pictures. Chris. Need to have AMI make and brand a 72” rake like that that will work with your progressive link thumb to grab he piles and stack them. Guy around here that does sewer work has and old 10 foot graded blade that he uses on his excavator to do final clean up with. Works very well.

That rake on the excavator works pretty well, but it needs the middle of the brush guard cut out so the thumb can close on it to pick stuff up.

I run a 470 with a grubbing rake up here in B.C Canada lots and it’s the only way to go. But our rakes don’t have the bar on top so I can still use the thumb to grab and move lots of logs and debris.

I saw lots of your clips and I like to see the progress, heavy machines, getting stuff done. Just nice and kind of satisfying. Also one witnesses a lot of trees getting cut off. You can make great money but it takes practice to be good at it.. someone new to the business should get them a lil skid steer or mini excavator and start doing little jobs with those you can make great money doing the smaller jobs that these bigger companies dont wont to fool with and they're plenty of smaller jobs around for those plus you get the experience... im just rambling on lol but its true🤷‍♂️😁

@@paulriversred738 10 or 12 years ago i got a mini tractor 4wd with a front bucket and a factory mount to the frame but will remove to get too the 3 point hitch backhoe ..used it to dig out the craw space under my old home then did side jobs with it,, it was nice i could go places a full size machine could not fit .. wish my backhoe had a thumb ,, and some days wish i had a full size unit to go with it ,, need to hit the lottery ,,

I think the rake on the excavator is OK for smaller jobs. On this project I believe the dozer will do just as good of job and much more efficiently. Just my opinion. Love your channel Chris. I actually got my boss to start watching! We swap notes every day or two about your videos...lol..👍🇺🇸
