Hi Kevin, Can you please make a tutorial on How to use the Avid Titler + in Media Composer 2018.12 and above. It's been six months since the release of that feature and I can't find a single video or tutorial on how to use it.

No, not natively. They can be added through Boris Continuum Complete the full version, or via one of the BCC Units.

Hey Kevin, could you not just click the start column on the sequence within the bin to change the time of the sequence?

Hey Charles - Yes, I should have been more clear about this. I was referring to years (and years) ago, when they originally made this annoying change. As we know, there are a bunch of different ways to do different things, and thankfully this simple feature update was added to make all our lives easier. Thanks for the feedback!

Holy shit! They added an inspector tool that you can use to check metadata on your clips? You're telling me that the industry standard video editing software didn't have that till 3 weeks ago? Something I don't think any other video software would even really mention as a feature? Wtf. But I have to admit, being able to create your own groups of specific properties is nice. Don't get me started about these panels though, wtf. Did they ever, I don't know, open a browser?

Hey Kevin! Great work as usual. I’m liking all the changes I’m seeing in media composer and I’m excited about updating. However I have a question about compatibility with older versions. There’s a lot written about forward capability... moving a bin or project from a previous version forward to this version. My question is can a bin, created in this new version, with a finished sequence say, be opened in an older version of media composer? And if so is all the information about the sequence complete? I’d really like to know. And thanks again Kevin for the great work you do for all of us editors!

The inspector tool is not new. It has always been there. For older version of media Composer, it can be brought up by pressing command+i (mac) when a clip is selected or opened in source browser.

Where did SMART TOOLS TOGGLE ICONS dissapear?

they changed it to icons. If you look at the left you will see the yellow and red icons which are now how you select the smart tools. I actually had to add them from the command pallette.

@@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 Thx for the answer found it. Although behaviour of it is now really quirky. I'm used to toggling SMART TOOLS with SMART TOGGLE KEY assigned to keyboard. In previous versions i would select for example only LIFT OVERWRITE / OVERWRITE TRIM that way when i ST back and forth it would always select what has been previously selected and now it turns all of the segment modes ON. Ffs :S

4:46 you can do this at the bin level, just type the starting timecode into the Start column
