Not actually a year because at most he was there 99 days, Im pretty sure most of the prisoners are transfers from other prisons so they have already served some time. He could have been transferred for literally the last day of his sentence as a scare tactic or something tho.

The for-profit private prison industry makes roughly $7.6 Billion per year, yet for-profit prisons only house 128,063 prisoners (as of 2018) out of the 1.5 prisoners in the US in total. This means that for-profit prisons make, on average, $59,375 per prisoner every single year their incarcerated. I doubt this even accounts for many of the gov't subsidies these prisons get from the federal government, the reason why they have so many lobbyists working for them in Washington.
