Just got done with an incredible listening session with this set. Gotta say what stands out for me is how great the vocals are , especially the back up vocals. On dancing in the moonlight by king harvest , I swear I've never heard how prominent and strong they are on this tune which I have heard about a million times before. The bass is great as well. Very nice set I am really enjoying these.

Wanted to completely redact my comment. It appears I got the HBB tuning. Only mistake was I got the wrong sleeve on the packaging. Otherwise, I got confirmation from Shuoer that every HBB set was QC-ed and made sure to match the proper tuning. Issue is I ordered black. Black does not have the HBB logo on them! Very important distinction. There was essentially no visual difference between my set and a regular EJ07M. So you can see where the confusion is. Shuoer should definitely mention that in case you go for the black/resin options. Otherwise, I started using the set. Really enjoying it so far!

Hi Bad Guy, sometimes I come back to my old contemplations on: does it worth going up after iems like Z1R, UM Mest, qdc VX whateever!? You provoked it again. But wait, I do not criticize - I just asked myself: well, sometimes he does videos on expensive iems, but he lives in Japan, and what Japan is famous for? Stax! Why, you never do electrostatics and, at least, Stax? Did you decided it that they are not good for your library? You know, I was trying to avoid electrostatics and gradually discovered that this is the upgrade I need - I started with the warm 003mk2, and later got a cheap Nectar Pollinator that worth every penny, now I have two other Stax-es and a custom modified 007t and these fully changed my perception of what is natural reply and value.

Hello HBB, first of all thanks a lot for your reviews, it really helps. Would you recommend kinda lava for electronic music ( massive attack, burial, biosphere, four tet, paul kalkbrenner, skinny puppy,…). I currently own the Kato but now looking for a step up for this genre ( note that I am listening to many genres but electronic is my favorite). Was thinking about Xenns up but seems not very good value for the money ( compare to kinda lava that you can find around $500). Any recommendation in the $300 price range by the way? I was even thinking about the s12 which seems to be a steal at $120 (hifigo sales). Thanks

I was set on the Xenn Up because of where you placed on your charts. Now going back and forth between this or the Xenn Up. I see they graph similar in the low to mids and then go off in the treble. Are you able to provide any insight between the two and how the differ for you? Like what benefit would the 5k peak provide on the Lava? Mahalo!

I think UP is suited for folks who are sensitive to vocal harmonics and like a slightly dark set to relax. LAVA is a better overall listen in accuracy and micro detail.

My biggest quibble with your definition of “audiophile” is that, for electronic music or hip hop, how do we know what the original mix was? Most of us have only ever heard this music in reproduction via various sorts of transducers.

I have the same exact library as you to the pin point , i can only afford one iem at a time . I currently have the mest OG with a very okay fit and am Happy with it! But want as best high fidelity as i can get . I am sure i can sell the OG for a very decent price and buy the kinda lava with money to spare possibly . I understand that the OG didnt fit you well but they fit me me so so lets say your customs OG , would you sell them and buy the kinda lava instead or just keep the OG ?

I mostly listen to close micced DSD, cello, piano, violin, modern classical. I just ordered custom 07ms made, but it is not too late to have them retuned. Should I go for that same lift 80-200 Hz??? Or leave the 07m stock?

Sadly out of my budget, this set looks amazing though. Watched the video and totally agree with your views on hi-fidelity as well as vocals being INTEGRAL to rock music. Also, lots of instruments occupy that same frequency range as vocals (I'm thinking of lead guitar lines) so how can a set be good at rock replay but NOT good at male vocals? That's a little confusing to me as well.

Looks lit! There are a lot of 4 EST sets now, it's becoming the next big thing in the audiophile market, with the likes of the Softears Cerberus, BGVP ES12, Kinera Baldr, Anole V14, Seeaudio Kaguya, Odin etc. However, the EJ07 itself performed better than a lot of these experimental iem's. I'm still holding before plunging, but man it's so tempting to get a set now.

But then to get an audio file reproduction, we need to listen from where was recorded or mastered. Without that elements we will never know how was supposed to sound .and yes I agree with the library. Your music is based on the 70 to 90ts when the music was recorded in a 8 track. Bass and sub bass was not very predominant in that days when today is a total different ball game.. you right. I listen my music at 80 plus dB and I find all iems too bright for me apart from the mest first edition. And I was reading from some people that some people ear canal is so different that can change 10db in the low frequency and 5 dB in the highs depending of the length ams thickness of the ear canal. So to my war's a good bass is around 65 dB to 68 dB in the sub bass. But then in the highs I am sensitive to treble because of my ear canal. So most sets are to Bright for me. And I need a bit bump on the 500hz to 800hz to ear the voice in a real tone. But that's me.

They are right on. Btw I luv my Blue T with Headphone Man logo and Decals on Car (Do you have a name for your logo head) I know a bit of your feelings towards Empire Ears, but can you tell me what was it that you don’t like about the Odin’s. I know they are lacking in a few areas but I would like to know what your trained ear knows that many others don’t. I own the Odin’s, I bought them before being exposed to your line of thought. I just happen to make a purchase of the original MEST based on your rec, what a great score. I listen to much of the same music you do with differences. Ya know, I luv the Odin’s for somethings and others not. I need advice please, I am in a quandry and I don’t want to waste more money than I have to (lmao - who doesn’t). I have a chance to buy some like-new Odins from our common friend Andrew. He luvs most your videos, he said your right on the mark. (I agree). I want the best IEM knockout-complimentary combo. Instead of sending in my problematic Odins in to EE again during an out of warranty repair and not have them fixed right - or I can purchase the near new Odins from Musicteck. Additionally, do you ever get any custom IEM’s from JHAudio, they seem to cater to the true rockers out there. I was considering custom Jolene Hybrid with a wicked subwoofer device of sorts or getting the MEST Indigo or the UM Fabled Mason Sound (Blue & Wood). If maximum performance was the deciding factor --- what would you choose? Then I want to buy one of your rec’s under $1500.00 since you have impeccable taste. So three IEM combo purchase coming my way - I defiantly will use your input. Rock on with Led and the Crew (Hey yeah call your logo headphone man Led Head after Led Zeppelin, lo) - oor you can ignore that nam - ha ha (Which of the IEM;s lik this Kinda Lava Tribrid - The Monarc Mkii - Xenns Up - Mangrid Tea - those are the ones like that to choose an IEM under$1500 --- Thanks

Hey Brian, Pt 1 Just the ear gain on Odin gives me an unnatural feeling about vocals (over emphasis) . It has plenty of bass too so it's great for the being at the club feeling but it's not natural sounding to my ear. I have not gotten any CIEM from JH before. Monarch MKII >Kinda Lava>Xenns UP >TEA would the the order of SQ with my library at 77dB

hello, greetings from Brazil, man i'm always laughing when i enter your first page: you can't be like me" lol, seeing many videos of yours, like a lot your reviews, and i got what you said, many reviewers have different tastes for music. I saw something on your library, you could make a tidal and spotify library, would be cool, i don't know if you ha done that, i could not find. I like a lot Rock, hard rock, heavy metal, metal, some pop rock, pop from 80 and 90s. Some acoustics with piano, cellos alternative/indie. i like a good bass, kind of sensitive to some highs. do you think your kind of iems fits my kind of library too? that genres i have talked about? i'm new on iem, only have one TWS sony wf-1000xm4, but i want a higher quality sound. can you help me? someone told me to get mangird tea 2 to start, i'm thinking. my budget is at maximum 1000$ but less than this is good too. thanks at advance. keep this great work.
