Love this and excited to paint it. I love horses and had one until I lost him a year ago. He was 25. He loved eating and would also do a food shimmy when I gave him his grain. He would squeal and dance every time!

Great tutorial! Ahh listening to the art of conversation during a pandemic made me realize how much I miss! You two complement one another in teaching! My daughter is a horse trainer. She went to college for equine business management and is doing very well! Flash back 10 years ago....me in the closet saying to myself where is she going to find a job..!!! Following your passion leads to many blessings,as Sarah said"if you stick with it".. Still working o my horse and having a blast.. Thank you Sarah and Taylor!

Loved how you discussed horses during this! The Budweiser horses are perhaps the most famous group of draft horses. I love how she said “Wells Fargo horses!” I like them too! I had a horse in high school for a short time. He was a tall palomino-yellow coat, cream color mane and tail. You both did an amazing job!! TFS! ❤️

This has to be the best and most fun water colouring video I have ever watched and I learnt so much about blending and shading. I also learnt that no matter what visual subject you are using, no one creates the same picture, but everyone has personalized their copy. Wonderful video. Thank you!

i believe comparing my work with others I learn diff details adding and taking away it does improve everyone no matter their level if beginner it teaches you how to combine color, learn how dark and light work with each other to create what is in the mind's eye, and even if you are painting a smiley face you use all those details in proportion and mix and imagination

Our teen daughter had a love for horses so she had two. At the time we lived on a Army Base General Patton always had horses so our base was set up with stables etc. Her first horse was a barrel horse the one she really loves the second was a quarter horse she broke etc. but she never felt the same about the second one.

I agree with you totally about it takes time and effort to learn something. It is the same with horses. I have helped several people deal with their fear of horses. One of the main things is to be gentle with yourself and give yourself a break. If you know someone with a gentle horses who is willing to help you they can give the horse the security so it doesn’t only pick up on your fear. The trust it’s person has can give you both a bridge to help you overcome your fear.

I FINALLY DID IT! I have been so scared to even try this one I waited a year before I gave it a go... and I have to say, I kinda like the result! THANK YOU, Sarah, Taylor, and Keenan for a fun morning learning all about using watercolor paint and pencils together to create such a realistic horse. (BTW, Keenan, people do, on purpose, do the sorts of haircuts you mention to their horses - it's called "banging." They also "roach" the mane itself, which, as it grows out, stands straight up and in all cases, in my opinion, is pretty ugly. LOL) Now, to try this again, but painting my gelding (in my profile picture here) - lots of "chrome" (aka white) with spots all over... but maybe I'll wait another year before trying that. LOL THANK YOU and God bless!

@Bearwithme560

They can bite, and hard. Just look at horses in a herd: there's often one with a bite - usually on the neck - that requires stitches. I've been bitten on the arm twice. Best not to make assumptions with animals this large. :)
@SomeonesMom3
@SomeonesMom3 2 жыл бұрын
@@Bearwithme560 I was actually not making an assumption. I own a horse and was referring to the fact that it is not as easy for a horse to bite you on the hand if you hold it out flat to them. It is definitely important to be careful around them, though!

I'm just now working on the horse, a couple months late, nevertheless having fun and learning a lot. Right now I'm watching Taylor so masterfully paint the eye, and figuring out the difference between "blending" and "defining". I understand what the terms mean, but when using watercolor pencils, how do you use the water to 'define'?

For Keenan plus i got curious too. 🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅 The watercolor pencil was invented in the 1940's. It is the first water soluble pencil that can be used as a regular color pencil to color in a drawing or as a watercolor pencil with the use of a paint brush and water to give a painted effect to a drawing. I just can't resist mentioning that in part 1 on the written tutorial you mention the horse's "snout." Nononononono. Horses do not have snouts. They have muzzles. I cracked up when I read this. It reminded me of the conversation about penguins having wings vs. fins. Just sayin". . . :)

I've heard folks say, the trace lines show, with water color. To me it doesn't matter. Just wondering your thoughts.

I erase them with a pencil. It works pretty well

You will want to trace your outline softly with the graphite paper, or use watercolor pencils to transfer your image. When doing this the lines will disappear into your painting as you paint.

If you hold your hand out flat they can't really bite you. I've been around horses lots.

Do you have to use watercolor pencils? I would rather use just plain watercolors.

Hahaha... bitten by a mare. Lol. That’s what they do. They pin their ears and they get snotty. I love my mare, but she’s snotty. ;)
