I feel bad for the guy in the last story, he sounds like a major sweetheart and it's nice to see a fresh perspective, something you haven't heard before. I feel better knowing he had his wife to back him up and keep him level headed. I feel like Catfish are so insidious, they take your identity and wear it so convincingly like they are you, causing so much distrust and doubt on even the smallest of things. I hope Carrie stopped catfishing.

I agree, I felt so bad for him. The girls who he had been writing to though... I mean, when one of my friends/family in real life or people I add on my fake account begin sending me horrible things online my first thought is 'yeah, the guy/gal got hacked, too bad'. It's never a logical conclusion that yes, it's this person that I know/talked to for a long time is the one who is sending me these messages because it just doesn't make any sense. One would think that if they wanted to creep on someone, they'd either choose someone they didn't know or would be creepy from the start. Edit: or if they had a terrible desire to creep on people they know in person on social media they'd use a fake account. There is literally no reason to restrict the creeping to fb if you aren't trying to keep it secret. Going through the trouble of creating a new account with the same name and picture instead of simply remaining anonymous... yeah, sounds very logical to me.

I actually had a creepy thing happen to me over FB. Not as interesting as these stories though. When I first joined in 2009/2010 I'd get all kinds of random people (mostly guys) from different countries like the Middle East and Asia trying to talk to me &/or friend request me. One guy from Cairo, Egypt I responded back to. I wanted to talk about what it was like in his country but he was fixated on being nasty with me & when I didn't give in to his remarks he got hostile. The last thing he said before I blocked him was: "I'll come find you & smuggle you back to my country cause the States are small as hell." That freaked me out.

During the last story, each time I thought I couldn't get angrier, I DID! I got angry at OP for ignoring all the hinky activity. I got angry at the fake friends for their stupidity. But I became fully rageful when the wife was so insulting when he decided to prove his innocence! Given how it all went down, I'm heavily suspicious of OP's wife. I don't know if OP was being gaslighted, the wife was jealous of all the time spent with friends or she's just a whack job. I just know that she sets off enough red flags waving that they could power a wind turbine! She sure as heck didn't want OP looking deeper into the issue. I'm genuinely concerned for OP's welfare. I can only hope he's learned the valuable lesson to watch his six!

I had a female Facebook stalker for 2 years. I would block her and she would make another profile by the time I would report the one she was stalking me from. By the time she finally left me alone I counted 30 different accounts she had made to stalk me. It really freaked me out and I have no idea why she was stalking me.

Deb Yu , I was talking about all the actual friends I already had in real life, who then went on fb and I kept in touch with that way. And yes getting to initially chat with and sometimes meet in person and begin a 'proper' friendship with can happen via fb. And has with me. Not everyone on social media is crazy, weird or some social misfit. And also by 'normal friends' I meant 'normal' as opposed to 'menta'l. If one was to nit pick I suppose you'd call fb or social network contacts who you don't know in 'real life' more acquaintances. If people can have relationships purely online then why not friendships? Oh and a couple of fb friends with whom I communicated regularly and in some depth, I definitely considered friends. :)

I am rarely on Facebook. But one time when I was. I got a friend request and after I accepted it the person suddenly texted me to my phone and said "Hi it's me from facebook. I got your number from your profile on there." I answered back "I do not have my number on there at all and you are scaring me" Then the person send me a picture of a hand and said in the text that he wanted to hold my hand. "What part of you scaring me is it that you do not understand" I next wrote in hoping he would say sorry or saying it was a joke or something like that. The next text was the most creepy. "Are you home? You live on this address (Insert address name here)" That's when I blocked him from Facebook and on my phone. The address he had written was my old apartment but still that was really creepy!
