To the woodsman how absolutely terrifying! I know how dangerous the log deck and terrain can be. My brother was a choker setter among other odd jobs. Very scary stories I heard from him. I do wish you to remember that smell of the trees and sawdust, without any anxiety attached! Stay safe out there! Peace

The hermit story is actually a modern tragedy. Let me explain: That story about the hermit only makes more sense as time goes on, when society doesn’t understand and/or simply refuses to, what other choice is there but to exile yourself from it rather than live in misery? That man became the bear wandering in the forest because nobody back home wanted him or understood him. This is what happens when you don’t know someone but mindlessly slap the word “dangerous” onto them just because they’re not “normal”. You ostracize them. It’s frustrating hearing this story because even the OP still thinks of them as some scary weirdo that would’ve hurt them. Most people don’t understand how impossibly frustrating that is. As an autistic person, I’ve been on this same kind of verge several times. Why live in a society that doesn’t want you and looks at you like a villain or some disease riddled patient. Someone once said not disclosing my diagnosis was like not disclosing a cancer diagnosis. No it’s not! I’m not terminally ill! That’s exactly why I don’t disclose my diagnosis because most people think it means I’m just mentally incompetent or something. Or they think you’re totally incapable of empathy when they’re the ones not empathizing. This is how a lot of people disappear and it’s only going to become more common, especially as the mainstream media keeps shoving in your face the message: “Men are dangerous, watch out!”. And altogether just really misunderstood. Like people think all I want is sex when it’s quite literally the last thing on my mind or people think I’m always scheming to get something in return. I’m just a regular, slightly irregular person. I’m none of what most people assume I am and that’s because of how men have been looked at lately. With contempt and/or fear. You literally compare us to bears, wild beasts that kill for food and play. Why would anyone put up with that? This story is a modern tragedy.

I'm from Maine and I am very familiar with his story. It is so sad. All those years in the woods alone. He has lived with his brother since serving his time and he does so quietly. No interviews and no speaking to anyone. But he is with his brother and not alone...anymore

Regarding that first story, we have a family cabin close to Marion. Each time we travel there we drive past that LDS church. I remember my dad telling me at a young age, "You know someone bombed that church once." That's alwasy stuck with me, and I still think it each time we drive by. I had no idea how big that story was!

Hello buttersock cult and poppa Joel. I needed this to take my mind off the fires less than 20mi from my home. Love you all 💋❤️ Edit : I think we will be okay. I just get super nervous. My mother is hospital bed bound completely so any evacuation or something I would literally need paramedics to get her out. Or I’d stay with her with a garden hose except in all the other cases that didn’t work out well as far as I saw on news AND if emergency services are tied up doing other things there just isn’t anyway for me to move her. And just imagining that for last week has terrified me. But so far actually the wind where we are is only 13mph and humidity went up today and right now a pleasant 78 humidity. Thank you for all the well wishes and good energy somehow I can feel that too. Y’all are loved.

My heart goes out to that man in the logging story. It makes me angry to think someone could do something so heinous, I couldn't Imagine how the op would feel.
@Maccanarchy19 сағат бұрын
I don't understand why he considered himself collateral damage, and an innocent victim.
@wasuh46413 сағат бұрын
@Maccanarchy did you spike that tree? 🤔 Seems like he was collateral damage. Someone spiked that tree in an environmental 'protest' and damn near killed the man. Yeah that's quite literally the definition of collateral damage. Not to mention this man was innocent, trying to do his job, and support his family. All while agreeing to an extent he recognizes the impact the industry as a whole can have in the environment. By all accounts, this man, did nothing wrong.

Hurricane, Ut is actually pronounced Hurr-a-kin. Not the traditional pronunciation of the word. Just like Miami, OK is pronounced Miam-ah. Just FYI Wanted to add: I went to HS in northern Cali, a logging town and I remember when people were spiking trees. And it pisses me tf off!! I hope there's a special place in hell for people like that.
