I'm willing to guess that the Whammo effect makes it so that when it impacts a rotwiener, it will do more than a tiddlywink of damage. Whooosh might make it so there's a metric buttload of knockback, to thin out crowds or to knock them banditos and killer boys outta cover. Shiny might be either just a decorative effect, like saying "hey, look at me, I'm so well off I can just throw these things with no care at all," or it might function as a sort of Chaff Grenade, like from the MGS series. Toss one out and electronics won't be working a while.

Solid theories, however I did test each of the Rotwiener exclusive explosives a couple of times and none of those listed effects seem to do anything right now. I didn't have enough resources in that mode to test very thoroughly though, so I may have missed something. I reckon you're about right about what they're *supposed* to do though...
