After stepping away from the grace alone mindset, I decided to read the NT again. Words like OBEY, ENDURE, and BE USEFUL were everywhere. Grace alone, faith alone made Christians soft and stagnant.. and that’s what was being taught in 2000-now when I was growing up in church. I can say it made my family divorce because my parents didn’t obey and endure hardships, but became soft in a stagnant “christian” marriage. They didn’t learn to treat their marriage like how Christ loved the Church. Just Grace alone and became stagnant. No growing, no forgiving and no love

Just because some people get stagnate and lazy doesn't invalidate what the Bible says about salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, lest anyone should boast- sound familiar? Ephesians 2:8-9 That is the message of salvation as it can be found in no one else but Christ (Acts 4:12) If we could save ourselves, Christ wouldn't have done what He did. He became a complete substitute because we were completely unable to do it ourselves. You are wrong. Plain and simple- wrong. To say salvation is by anything other than by grace is heresy. The Bible says that salvation is a gift from God...gifts by their very nature are free. Not costly, not cheap, not even very cheap. Gifts are free-- that means no cost at all to the recipient. This is something that can't be compromised on. If you are depending on anything (your works) other than Christ, you will never get to heaven because your works are as filthy rags to God. The only way is by putting faith in the fact that salvation is free and God's grace is the sole source of our salvation. If you've read the New Testament like you say, you would know this because it is a common theme throughout. You're free to think whatever you want to, but don't teach others your unBiblical error.

@@bobtriezenberg4255 ??? Never said works bring salvation, if anything I implied a working faith- To ACT rather than just believing by acknowledging God exists. If you believe in God but do not ACT on his word then your faith is dead (should read James more Bible thumper). Christ's work in salvation gave us the license to act from rather that towards. Protestants overact to word "work" and close their ears while echoing "alone, alone, alone" I say this as a non-catholic.

I listened to this a couple of days ago and it truly impacted me. I had never listened to Eric Metaxas before, but he said many things that I felt deep down in my core. "When you know something you live differently." Once you know better you have to choose whether or not to keep doing the same thing or to start choosing different. What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. New Covenant Whole Gospel: Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. I see people complaining about the message and the message giver. This message is no different than that of Esther which he quoted. The same message of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednago. There were some letters written to some churches too, one citing the lukewarm church in particular this mirrors. Your loyalty isn't to a country or a king or a president. Your loyalty is to God almighty. If you fear to speak out, if you fear to take a stand and just want to remain silent you are lukewarm. You've been giving lipservice. If this doesn't fit your faith maybe do some reading and analyze what you believe. Maybe reread your Bible. Maybe read Return of the Gods by Jonathan Cahn and take a look at whats happening in America. Its time to stand now. Christ told us all, you will be persecuted for my sake. You're either on board or you're not. Satan is not the equal of God. Never was. Never will be.

I love what one who trusted God said to the king , we know our God shall deliver us but even if he does not deliver us, we shall not bow down and worship. And they were ordered to be cast into the furnace and their fetters burned away as they rejoiced and among these three was seen a fourth man? And these three God delivered unsinged from the furnace, having no smell of smoke or evidence of burns on their flesh. But even if God does not deliver us, we shall not bow down and worship. How many of us will take the jabb instead of take a stand against extortioners? Is our job to die for? Yhose which took the jabb and succeeded in obtaining a real I.D. Are dropping dead. Found with a long thick dark red mucus blocking an artery from their heart? Was it the jabb? How many more will die? But not from covid? We are commanded to follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which, no man shall see the Lord. But what kind of peace and holiness? One that places light under a bushel?

I mean I'm not very far into it but I'd like to point out something. Evangelism is preaching the gospel. The gospel is Jesus, him, how he lived, what he did, his kingdom. Jesus is the good news. A true Christian believer is a citizen of heaven not of this earth and we are mandated to share the gospel of Christ that we may all dwell one day to the place that Jesus told us. Jesus time was under Roman oppression but He never say anything political against the Romans instead He said “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's” (Matthew 22:21 NASB). and “Jesus said, 'My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from here'” (John 18:36). I am surprised Calvary let this man speak in the pulpit. I don't think Chuck Smith will let this happen in his time. He preached about this in the parable of the mustard seed Mat 13:32 "Though [a mustard seed] is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches."

The problem is, we have no GOOD presidential leader to choose from. One seems old, feeble and way too willing to do the bidding of his extreme left followers, and the other is lewd, vulgar, lies and definitely not anyone you would want your child to grow up to be....yet many in the "church" are so readily willing to follow him. I have decided to follow Jesus and His example....which is far different than what im hearing from either extreme. We need to stand strong and speak what the Bible actually says is good or bad but to be very careful of politicians or book pushers speaking from the pulpit who's agenda IA mammon. If something is from God then no man can stand against it and if it isn't, it will come to nothing. We preach what biblically is coming yet we try to write our own ending instead. Prayer is more effectual than war horses and political propaganda. Be careful of the Golden Calf. Trust and obey for there's no better way...

As much as I respect Skip Heitzig, I think having Mr. Metaxas take the pulpit was a bad idea. He basically used it to sell his books. Also, Mr. Metaxas would do well to read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." There was a lot of cymbal clanging going on there. He spoke like a true right-wing talk show host - speaking truth without love.

I'd be very curious to know what passages of Scripture show Jesus protesting government actions. Or condemning people of sin, rather than loving and healing them first so they would believe, and only then telling them to "sin no more". The right-wing American Christian Nationalists have become the new Pharisees & Sadducees, pointing out the sin in others while thinking they are above reproach. Worshipping "American values" and pointing out the specks in non-believers' eyes while ignoring the planks in their own. The Jesus of the Bible would be driven out of many churches in America today because He would not enter them holding an American flag and waving an AR-15. The Jesus I worship is not a white American. He's a dark-skinned Jewish carpenter who loves and died for the same people many American Christians love to mock and condemn. We must win hearts for Christ, and let Him handle everything else.

I can't imagine 100% of the time you're talking literally about Jesus and the Gospel... no, we should be living it. Discerning what that means through a relationship with Christ...conforming to Him. Commitment to Christ in action shows faith. Faith saves. This talk as more specific... not sure I agree with all the specifics, but I take that to prayer. Using new versions of the Bible is also heresy, because they leave entire verses out and change words that make yhe message totally different. Some add verses as well. I believe the KJV is the only version that God permitted for us English speakers.

That has zero basis in Scripture and is purely a man-made concept. KJV is a fine version if you prefer it, but is written in a now dead language and can be difficult to understand today. We are blessed to have many quality English translations. Understand and apply to your life is paramount and KJV has no corner on that. Grace and peace from the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is one of the more damaging presentations to a group of believers that I’ve heard, where an idea of promise was myopically, and narrowly communicated, having a thin veneer of Scripture that conceals an underlying pride and prejudice of hatred. it is filled with echoes of historic, theological arrogance, supremacist notions, and the “passion that lacks compassion”, which dismisses grace-and endorses banishment, punishment, and violence in the name of G-d. He should not be allowed to stand in any pulpit, and it is sad to see and hear how Skip allowed this man to violate the sacred space of influence. Metaxas’ Brooks Brothers Blue Blazer look says more about him and his brand of Christianity, than all the words he could ever pen in his book. From Pastor to Pastor: Skip, you can do better. I wonder how Eric’s is doing theological gymnastics in light of Israel’s genocidal assault upon Palestine. I wonder if Skip’s church and many others have a theological response that’s worthwhile, or are they being silent at so many other churches across this nation?

So, when Jesus told Peter that He was building an ecclesia, the New Adam who reset the human race was extending that reset to His community of believers who are to actualize it in the public square.
