I love how Alexander's pitch is just completely down the middle as far as reasonableness goes. It's got some pros and some cons, and he really has thought everything through. It's so unremarkable, yet the scene is still transfixing. It's genuinely hard to understand how someone is even able to write dialogue like this.

Yet for a grump and a twat's wedding, I'd gather this here dialogue is pretty comprehensible given the fact that there's always a pair in this heirloom of a vine we all grow up with. Jeff McEnery (Alexander) is always hilarious. I was at the funeral for his aunt a few years back and he was asked to speak, as he had lived with her for a couple of years (family politics, doncha know). The stories he told and the way he told them, with both humour and reverence for his aunt, were a classic example of working with one's audience and knowing one's crowd. And in any case, his aunt lived on a farm on a back road not far from a produce stand; he's pretty much a natural to be on the show!
@KaiserSoze6792 жыл бұрын
I used to do a little pro-am level standup comedy and Jeff came through fairly frequently. Got the chance to not only see him on stage doing everything from a high-polish headline set to testing out new bits on an open mic night, but also just got to hang out with the guy several times. He really is one of the most naturally funny people I've ever met (and when you spend that much time around comedians, that's saying a lot.)

Alexander seems like a good dude. He's awkward but that's how it goes with mental struggles. He worked 48 fiscal hours in incredibly shitty conditions, he's biking around selling beers to raise money for his brother's B&D, and he's asking around in person to invite people to try and get the numbers up so his brother/brother's fiance don't have to be such grumps and or twats on account of a small turnout. I really don't think he's done much to even be mean to people in letterkenny, even the hicks are sometimes quite harsh to others (sometimes unwarranted). I feel like the writers were trying for the world record of "How many times can we say the phrase 'steak dinner' in one scene"
@isthatchrisk2 жыл бұрын
Lol think they try to beat that record alot tbh

For a buck fifty, I would hope its Kawarthas. Breyers and Chapmans are good, but nothing beats Kawarthas. If you find yourself headed to Bancroft area, check them out, they are just outside and they got a good choice of flavours.

"Not trying to bamboozle, just a bit of ballyhoo....." Boy I tell ya, there is nothing better than purchasing 3 steak dinners and getting 5 bucks off of the middle guy....especially if there is a seasonal vegetable thrown in the mix

You got to get up pretty early in the morning to beat that deal.

Wow, a discussion of Chapman's vs Breyers and Sauble Falls vs Whitesands vs Winding River. A chunk of my youth summed up in a 3 min TV sketch. Squirrely Dan is right, too, Sauble Falls is the superior choice.

He’s a grump she’s a twot buck and doe reflects that I love that their method to get more people to come is you get $5 off if you buy TWO stack dinners which is still essentially paying $45 for steak dinners

We should stop calling socials a “Buck and Doe” and instead call them a “ Grump and Twat”

Now I'm a tad upset you didn't mention Kawartha Dairy on the ice cream list. I'd think a place like Lady Di's would have that.
@Jimbob357752 жыл бұрын
They are referencing places more local to Listowel
@babbscoady76222 жыл бұрын
@@Jimbob35775 Kawartha Dairy is closer to Letterkenny ON than Chapman's by half the distance, should at least have gotten a mention I'm thinking as that's the show's town name the picked 😆
@Jimbob357752 жыл бұрын
@@babbscoady7622 Letterkenny is based on Listowel, not the ghost town named Letterkenny. That’s why they mention Chapman’s and Sauble Beach. Diana Sweets is an actual business in Listowel. Modeans is the name of the bar that used to be in Listowel. Every town has a legion, but Listowel has an Ag hall and park view gardens. There is a large Mennonite community around Listowel. Even the term buck and doe is more common in southwestern Ontario. In the eastern part of the province they refer to it as a Jack and Jill or stag and doe. A lot is based on Listowel, and that’s why they don’t reference Kawartha dairy.

Okay show's based 3 ways 1. Loosely based on Listowel On, Jared's hometown. 2. Name based on Letterkenny ON, an abandoned town & 3. filmed in Sudbury On. Aside from all that, my original statement stands, Chapman's & Kawartha Dairy both should get a shout-out lol 😆 both are great Canadian brands!
