Shaf is the best. We live in the same town and I met him once outside a local bagel place, a few months after Late Show went off the air, and we talked for about 10 minutes. Couldn't have been nicer.

Not many people may be aware that Paul co starred in his own sitcom in the late 70s, it only ran for a few episodes and was not picked up after that but I do remember watching it when I was about 13 or so.

Shaffer's the best. My daughter and were in Letterman's audience once in 2011. We were excited to hear who the guest musicians were going to be. Sadly, the musical guest that night was a single drummer. ??? Bizarre. The night was saved by The World's Most Dangerous Band playing during the commercial breaks.

A lovely and entertaining man and not knowing him as well as I should when I learned that he wrote Its Raining Men that well, I thought, he's that way. But when when I thought the curtain was being definitively being pulled back on the private life of Paul Shaffer, he was suddenly revealed to be another way. I just know that if my wife thought that I was writing hit songs for gay discos, well, she may already have known I was a certain way in advance, so nothing to worry about - anyway. By the way, for the briefest of time; microseconds only really, I thought based on the title that we were getting the juice on Dylan and Spears um well TOGETHER somehow, and I thought this was another improbable suggestion on the KZbin and so I wasn't fooled. So I instantly clicked on the link. I was entertained, despite the deception, by the segment regardless! From your distant cousin in Seattle; Happy New Year and thanks Dave.
