Jerry's intelligence, perception and wit are on full display here, what an honor it is to have heard his voice and the music. Bob seemed reeeeeeealy high on something, but it was very interesting to see how he snapped into focus with Dave's question about being isolated. They both connected with that question and instantly got past the awkwardness into an honest conversation. Dave was/is a master of his craft, make no mistake. That was a hell of a question he asked, I wish they had stayed on that topic more.

thats always so weird to think of, sitting here as a 49 years old im still looking at Jerry thinking hes much older than me. because i always saw him as an older generation than me and i guess my mind still just automatically see them as older than me. but i mean if Bob is only 34 here how old is Dave, he doesnt really look any younger to me but he is talking to them about the 60s as if he werent there too. yeah not in their circles but he was still there.

I'm sure Jerry and Bobby made a bet backstage on how soon Letterman would ask them about the "Drug-Culture" in Frisco. It was the Grateful Dead's ingenious idea to allow fans to record and circulate tapes of the concerts that built a world-wide army of Dead-Heads. RIP Jerry, Pig Pen, Brent and Vince.
@chrisconley8583
@chrisconley8583 2 жыл бұрын
No need to bet. Someone from the show comes into the green room before the show just to talk, from that comes Dave’s (or any late night host’s) questions. It’s done to tip each other’s hands, so the interview goes more smoothly. It also a way to have Jerry and Bob not get asked a question that they might not want. This has been going on since Carson to say the least.
