What a lot of people don't know is that Kris was a Rhodes Scholar, college grad of course, a pilot and an Army veteran. He was so accomplished. And so handsome. He lived a great life. Rest in Peace, Kris Kristofferson, you were a bright light.

I worked on a music video with Kris years ago. I was an assistant director. He was a complete gentleman on both days of shooting. When he was done with his part on the video, I signed him out and he said to me, "It was great working with you." Most actors don't even say that, but he seemed like a very sincere guy. Godspeed and rest in peace, Kris: you were a legend while you were here, and now the legend can only grow.

One evening in 1972 my Canadian dad came home and asked me if I knew someone by the name of Kris Kristofferson. I was a young hippy then and my dad was pretty square. Turns out he met him at the house of Ronnie Hawkins. Apparently they got on pretty well after both learned the other was a military pilot when they were both young.

A renaissance man. An author, songwriter, singer, actor, scholar, athlete, helicopter pilot--the list goes on. He had his demons, too, saying in the early 1970s he didn't expect to live past 30. In an interview in 1983 he said when he saw himself in his final scene in "A Star Is Born" he got sober. RIP, Kris.

I was living in Austin, Texas in the early 70s and around 1972 or so I saw Chris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge in concert in an auditorium setting one night and I was really enjoying the concert, 5th row center, when about a third of the way into the concert, Kris introduces Willie Nelson and Willie literarily sits in and plays the rest of the concert with Kris and Rita the rest of the night! It was a awesome to say the least! Austin was magical back in those days because you never knew what was going to happen! One time I went to a friends house for dinner and Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker were both there just like I was! You just never knew what was going to happen. Magic!

Legendary songwriter.... Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train When I's feelin' near as faded as my jeans Bobby thumbed a diesel down, just before it rained And rode us all the way into New Orleans I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana I's playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues Windshield wipers slappin' time, I's holdin' Bobby's hand in mine We sang every song that driver knew Freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin', don't mean nothin' hon' if it ain't free, no-no And feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues You know feelin' good was good enough for me Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee From the Kentucky coal mine to the California sun There Bobby shared the secrets of my soul Through all kinds of weather, through everything we done Yeah, Bobby baby, kept me from the cold One day up near Salinas, Lord, I let him slip away He's lookin' for that home, and I hope he finds it But, I'd trade all of my tomorrows, for one single yesterday To be holdin' Bobby's body next to mine Freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose Nothin', and that's all that Bobby left me, yeah But feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues That feelin' good was good enough for me, mmm-hmm Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee La-da-da, la-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da-da-da La-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, Bobby McGee, yeah La-da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da La, la-la-la-da-da- Bobby McGee, oh yeah La-da-da, la-da-da, la, da-da, la, da-da La-da-da, la-da-da, la-di-da Hey now, Bobby now, now Bobby McGee, yeah Lord, oh Lord, oh Lord, lo-da-da, na-na-na, na-na-na, na-na-na Hey now, Bobby now, now Bobby McGee, yeah Well, I wanna call him my lover, call him my man I said, I call him my lover, did the best I can, come on Hey now, Bobby now, hey now Bobby McGee, yeah Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, oh Hey-hey-hey, Bobby McGee, Lord

So sad. I grew up with his music in Ireland. My parents had his LPs and we played them to death on our old record player as kids. He was a true star and gentleman. May he rest in peace ✌️🕊️

❤ I’d rather hear this old frog croak out his songs with soul, than to hear from some perfectionist play empty rock n roll! And I’d rather hear forgotten words from his aching, breaking heart, than to hear some latest tune that somehow made the charts. 🎶 Yes, Kristofferson’s my hero, through his crazy ups and downs. He has set the hallmark, has the right to wear the crown. Yes, Kristofferson’s my hero, through years and many miles. Whenever I hear his music, it always brings a smile. 🎶 Then in the twilight on the stage, more faded than his jeans, words fell like gilded treasures, more valued than they seem. But I’d rather this old frog croak out out his songs with soul, than to hear from some perfectionist play empty rock n roll … …
