Hey Dr. Awan! Thanks for this great video! I have been recently accepted in a virtual elective and wonder about if it is right or not to ask for LOR and if possible how would I show up to get an outstanding one?

Thank you for this comprehensive video, doctor! As a non-US IMG, I was just wondering if your LoR writers finished their fellowship in the US but are now practising in your home country, would the LoRs they make for you bear the same weight as US LoRs or would that bear the same weight as any other home country LoR? I heard that home country LoRs sometimes do not bear any weight for some PDs. Thank you and hoping for your reply! 😊

I think it would weight a lot since the letter writer has worked in the US!

Thank you for this, Dr Awan! Very informative. I had a doubt - I've worked in internal medicine and emergency medicine for a year after grad in India, planning my Radiology USCE as we speak ( Non US IMG). I will be applying for diagnostic radiology. Should I also look for Internal medicine experience in the US? It's quite an expensive ordeal as an IMG, and I'm trying to optimise for 4 months of USCE vs LOR speciality versatility. What would you say is a good mix?

Hi Dr. Awan, Thank you so much for this informative video! I I had a quick question. I am applying to Diagnostic Radiology and will have strong letters from IM, Psychiatry, Surgery, and Anesthesia attendings. However, I do not have a radiology letter because I have not had the opportunity to work closely and for an extended period of time with a radiology attending. Will this be viewed as a "red flag?"
