Maybe we should give the new stuff away and keep the old for ourselves.
@RelishThisMoment Жыл бұрын
This is so helpful as I have family members dealing with hoarding. The surplus of stuff is harming physical, emotional, and their relational health. God wants us to be free of the weight of taking care of things, so we can focus on him and be used in action by him in the world. It is not better to have time to love more items than more than time to love people. We are called to love others. It is more blessed to do more for God than have more. ❤

I'm in the middle of preparing for a huge move to the other side of the country, and I need to take as little items with me as possible, so I really needed to hear this today. I have had such a hard time letting things go, and this video helped me realize that most of it is junk. I'd been keeping old Christmas decorations that reminded me of my ex-boyfriend. I have over 70+ books that I know I'll never read again - they served a purpose during my adolescence, but not anymore. I've outgrown them. I have a sewing machine that I keep around "just in case" despite the fact that I hate sewing. I've got mountains of clothes, but typically only wear the same five or six outfits on rotation. There is no way I can bring all of it with me, so today I've got to make a BIG change and lighten my load, and I know that I can do it with God supporting me.

I'm with you there!! We're planning a move across country too. And I just went through boxes that some if the stuff I have carried with me since I was in HS. I'm nearly 40. I have 5 kids. I had a whole box of STUFF from my one daughter's 1st and 2nd grade years. After this message I'll need to go through it again lol Amen!!

I… wow. God really is telling me I’m making the right decision. Slowly, I’ve reverted back to my old self in a lot of regards. Perhaps I never changed, merely changed my methods… but I’ve been committing idolatry while telling myself I wasn’t. It’s only been a day of letting go, yet it feels like a break up. That I think is very pathetic, that there could be something in my life that I let go of that makes me feel as if my heart is breaking. As if I’m loosing something significant when in reality it is nothing. I’m praying to stay strong

This message meant a lot to me am I am pretty sure God put this here for me. Thanks so much to Pastor Craig for speaking over this topic. It already has effected me and I literally just finished watching it. I plan on getting rid of a lot of things to fix this greed. I was really inspired by the quote, Are you accumulating on Earth what you cannot keep? Or are you investing in the Heaven what you cannot lose? Once again thank you so much to everyone and this is an amazing message.

Thank you, Pastor. I am moving across the country in a month, and with very low income. I keep trying to pack old journals and picture albums, and pictures, and still trying to figure how to get my stainless steel pan and pot on the airplane. What to take and what to leave behind? My favorite rose colored bedroom lamp that I cannot find anywhere else, but my debt is high and I am nervous about trying to mail items as well as to leave them and then try to replenish what I have lost. At the same time I want to be rid of everything and feel light, light, light anyhow. I have a back disability, managing chronic pain therefore having to manage that too during this move and thereafter. Keeping the faith though, because this move will be very adventurous for me that I need the change. Letting go, and having the faith to believe that what comes up ahead will meet my needs without me packing what I think I will need once I get there. Long distances we must let go and think light. Thanks for this video, it is encouraging.

So for the last 5 years, I have been trying to get him to understand that I don't need MORE STUFF, I NEED LESS!!!! BUT BECAUSE HE'S AN ADDICT, HE JUST CAN'T SEEM TO HELP HIMSELF. 🤔 IT MAKES ME CRAZY. Jesus said to "sell your possessions and give ALMS." ONE way churches can do this is have a yard sale, and then give the alms to the poor and needy. In particular, "the WIDOW and the FATHERLESS, since they are who the TITHE IS FOR ( DEUT. 14, and DEUT. 26).

Just an honest question I could really use help with as a new Christian,,how does a pastor preach about dropping our nets and letting go of material needs yet live in a huge giant mansion? Any help would be appreciated
@life.church4 жыл бұрын
Hey Vinny! Thanks for engaging with us here. Not everyone who is a Christian or even a pastor is perfect in their walk with Jesus. And lots of times there are things about their finances that we may want to judge from the outside but aren't ours to judge. One verse that helps me with this is Jesus' teaching in Matthew 7 which remind us to first seek God about the sin or hypocrisy in our own life before calling out others. This helps me focus on my own growth. Hope that helps! --Kendra

Isn't this common knowledge? It makes me sad that there is a sermon devoted to this. Of course human experiences and family time are sooooo much better than things!!! EVERYONE should know this. Sorry!! Just sayin.. .
@MsK_in_CA6 жыл бұрын
I agree, it should be common knowledge. And maybe it it knowledge but we are missing when it comes to application. You only need to watch all the news stories from black Friday to see we have a long way to go.
@CLCooper7776 жыл бұрын
It's not "common knowledge" because the "world" says the exact opposite and unfortunately many Christians get swept along in the current. If you don't renew your mind to truth, you will buy the lie!
