I'm a silversmith, but haven't ever buffed up someone's wedding ring, so don't know they're process, I've only buffed rings I have made. But if there were any deep scratches to remove then they would have buffed down enough to get those scratches out, so that would be removing metal. I do noticed when I rebuff my own rings they feel a little different, smoother, as they get rougher over use. So your ring is probably just feeling like it did when you first put it on, smooth and new and clean.

Indeed, it's so odd to actually have it buffed to me. I go in for a clean all the time, it's just an ultrasonic bath type thing. It gets rid of dirt between stones and prongs that I can't get with a toothbrush. Getting the scratches out would be never ending! Rings get scratched, that's gold for ya. Mine's so thin already, because of the design, that it would disappear!

I used to polish jewellery. The process can thin a band depending on how much they had to polish the band but it will be smoother for sure.

Buffing and polishing tools & bits do have a fine grit to them so yes it will thin the metal. An ultrasonic cleaning shouldn't remove any metal but will remove built up debris and body oils.

A friend of mine took their ring to get resized and then later on went to give the ring to their child only to find their 1/2 carat diamond was now a cubic zirconia. So I will never send mine in without staying and watching what they are doing.

I am from the USA and I love bath and body works. I am so glad that you have on in the uk. It is the greatest place to shop. I love their scents they smell so beautiful. I use their shower gel. We use their handsoap and I use their body spray because it is the only thing that I can wear that won't give me an instant migraine.

I used to work for H Samuel. Buffing rings does remove a very small amount of metal as the process is similar to sanding in that it smooths by removing the top layer. Polishing is different as that’s less abrasive but the results aren’t as noticeable

The Taco Bell employee sounded judgey lol I used to work at a jewelry store. Guaranteed they put your ring in the ultrasonic with “cleaner” (my store used diluted mr. clean). It takes 60 seconds to clean your ring and they told you to come back in a half hour to pretend it’s actually time consuming. We CAN send your stuff out for a deep clean but unless you’ve gotten stuff on it like paint then you don’t super need to do that very often.

As someone who lives in the US, I'm VERY confused about the conversation about waffles and hashbrowns. Here in the states, waffles are made from the same batter as pancakes (or hotcakes) and hashbrowns are made from just potatoes. I've never heard of these "potato waffles".

I want a quality streets tin buffet pick your own flavours style. I don't know if it's already implemented anywhere in Australia. Not where I live from my shopping visits.... You should have seen the instant jaw drop I just did. Originally we could only get the tins, I think Easter time or Christmas but I think our shops get them more often throughout different holidays and stuff within the year nowadays... I definitely go for a few more specific ones. I would probably be extremely likely to over indulge even more then normal if I had access to one of those 🤣

Your ring probably feels different because they reshaped it. Every persons finger is a different shape and the ring will slowly form and mold to that, plus it will get little dings and bends, and they pop it on a mandrel and pound it back into round.
