I am planning on breeding the Lemon hen, but at the moment I don't have the space to pair her up. Most of the boxes are taken up by the performance pigeons, but once a colour breeding box is free I'll pair her.

When do you start chasing up the young birds forcing them to fly, or do you wait on them to try themselves, even if it takes a month?... I would really want to know your feedback. Tx

I don't chase them at this stage. Racing is still 6 months away, I just want them to settle in to the loft and feel comfortable. Thanks for the question, I might talk about it more in a video if I remember!

I had a pair that took 5 weeks to lay and when she finally layed she only layed 1 egg.

Adam I just bought my first 2 pairs and they still havent laid any eggs, i've had them for about a month now and still no eggs. I use plastic nest bowls,does that make a difference ? Or what could be the other reasons for them not laying any eggs?

Plastic doesn't make a difference. Sometimes they just like to frustrate us :(

You should give them enough space and food. Give them some straws and if they are mature enough they will lay eventually.

When I get young birds from another loft I try to have them outside the very next day. It is critical to have them used to being outside before they're strong enough to fly away.

@@AdamArcherPigeons thank you so much! I’ve had experience with white homing pigeons for a white dove release business that I was starting last summer but it didn’t go well. I started off with about 10 whites and kept them in the loft for about 2 weeks (BIG MISTAKE) when I let them out they all flew so fast and like they couldn’t control themselves. They all came back that evening, but by the end of the summer they were all gone 😞 so before I retry I want to get all information needed! I also am going to purchase more than just 10 this time
