I liked how Jinx handled Vi accidentally hitting Isha. She didn't continue to fight her or tell her to be careful with her. She ran over to make sure she was okay and used it as a teaching moment for Isha as if to illustrate that getting hit is part of jumping into a fight.

Something I don't see a lot of people mentioning is how Vi could've refused Jinx here and walked away. She kept calling it a delusion, and yet she stuck around. Also Singed be dropping two of the hardest lines this episode like it's nothing.

I said this too upon my second rewatch. That despite Vi constantly calling it delusional, a part of her deep down believed in it and wanted it to be true, hence why she stuck with Jinx and entertained the idea, albeit with reluctance. I think her initially dismissing and rejecting Jinx's claims about Vander at first was to save herself from the disappointment and heartbreak of it possibly not being true.

In a old Q&A with the creators of the show there was a question related to that. Christian told that Silco didn't knew how to make braids, so he told a inventor to build a machine to do jinx's hair, but she tinkered with the machine so much that one time it almost choke her to death, so he learned how to do her hair until she was old enough to learn how to do it herself.

Another point that was probably mentioned but when Jayce and Salo are in the hextech chamber, you can clearly see the animators made it a point to show how cold it is in there. But if you look closely, Jayce is the only one that has breath coming out. Salo isnt breathing at all. VIktors gifts come at a price.

There are two moments in particular, apart from the hug the end and Jinx finding Vi, that make this episode so much more devastating and prove that Jinx and Vi will always deeply care about each other whether they want to or not. The first being Vi saying "He's going to kill *you* " to Jinx, and that stood out to me *so much* first time watching, because at this point in time, all of the girls, including Vi, are in danger, not just Jinx, and yet the first thing Vi thinks of and who she's fighting that monster for is Jinx, not herself or even Isha. And then the other moment that hit me like a ton of bricks is Jinx pleading with Vi to believe her and Vi, whose entire thing is always fighting for the people she loves and action, lowers her gauntlets and believes in her sister. This isn't a small or insignificant thing, because she isn't just giving up her chance to fight this monster, she, as well as Jinx and Isha, are also as good as gone if this monster her sister is claiming is Vander isn't who Jinx thinks he is. We as the audience *know* it's Vander so we're positive she'll make it out, but Vi doesn't and has very little reason to trust her sister at this point in time, not only because of how things were the last time they saw each other, but also because so far this monster has almost killed her multiple times, and yet... Vi still lowers her guard and trusts her sister. Those moments among all of the other beautiful scenes in the episode just *ruined* me.

It's subtle compared to everything else happening in this episode, but I genuinely believe Cait's scenes here are much more important to her character arc this season than they get credit for. And, I think, are also a great illustration of one of the key differences between her and Ambessa. In episode 4 we see that Ambessa has assumed the disappearance of Jayce and Heimerdinger is a deliberate attack on her by her mortal enemy, the Black Rose, and she continues to stubbornly believe she's right about everything for months on end without questioning it once, even after her most loyal ally suggests it could be something else In this episode, we also see Caitlyn assume that Singed's summoning of the beast was a deliberate attack on her people by her mortal enemy Jinx... But she doesn't just accept that assumption as the truth. She is a detective. She investigates and researches and in less than 24 hours discovers who Singed REALLY is, including the fact that he isn't even from Zaun! He's a Piltovan who has been using the innocent people of the undercity as subjects in his horrible experiments for years. Even Shimmer was a creation he unleashed on them, rather than something made by the people of Zaun themselves. She deliberately faces her own prejudiced thinking and questions everything she thought she knew about the conflict between the two cities And THEN he explains that all the horrible things he's putting these poor people through were done out of a twisted feeling of love for a deceased family member... just like her this season. And she realizes this is who she could become if she stays on her current path All of season 1, Caitlyn was someone who wanted to seek the truth and then, with that information, do the right thing. And now we're really seeing that again (Plus, she also discovers that Ambessa has been going behind her back all this time to make sketchy deals with scientists like this monster, and probably realizes that these two “allies” of hers have one thing in common, besides their lack of any moral backbone. Namely: They never question the goal they fight for, never prioritize ANYTHING over it… and because of that they are completely alone in this world. They have no family around them anymore. No friends. No lovers. Only soldiers and creatures they use for their own ends, and people who use them in return)

It is a bit rushed, for sure (we go from Caitlyn throwing Singed in the dungeon to Ambessa getting him out almost immediately), but your analysis is solid. Riot has a website for stories and lore writings about this world, and interestingly, some of the most horrifying stories are written about Singed. I remember one was basically a part of his journal about an experiment. he kidnapped beggars on the streets of Zaun and subjected them to experminets about "regenerating lost body parts". I don't think you need more details. the man is truly monstrous in everything but his looks.

Also I love the parallels between the three regarding family. Singed and Ambessa would do anything to "protect / save" their family members, doing atrocities in the process of it (Ambessas whole 'she's safer as our enemy' line regarding Mel while she is the one who brought the danger to Mel in the first place and then actively fighting Mel in a war but still justifying everything as her love for her family/daughter is so expertly written). I think Cait realizes all of the dangerous similarities between Singed and Ambessa, and that she's on the similar path as them and chooses to step off of it. She sees that doing horrible things and justifying it as "for family /love" will only destroy her and that's why she chooses to betray Ambessa in the next episode (not because of Vi, or at least not wholly, I think that her meeting Vi was more of a signal to Cait that now is the time to enact her betrayal of Ambessa) I know that many ppl miss this on the first watch (I did), and having Cait switch sides was a bit abrupt and seemed out of nowhere. And having the second act only be 3 eps didn't do the writing justice, it could have been at least one episode longer but oh well. It's still all there you just need look closer. Arcane writing is genius.

1:36, He's the same guy that Vi knocked out with one punch on the "bridge" when the gang went to rescue Vander. and he's also the same guy in Stillwater prison who got his jaw broken by Vi. 20:25, Shimmer was first developed from Rio, the salamander-like creature in season 1. You see it and Singed, the doctor, in the cave when young Viktor goes looking for his boat. Later in when Viktor (still young) returns to the cave Rio is dying Singed tells him that "the mutation must survive". Sometime later when older Viktor returns to the cave you see Rio in a large cylinder full of liquid. Singed cultivates shimmer from Rio and throughout the series modifies and varies the formula to make it more stable. He probably also develops it from other creatures after mutating them.

The sisters hugging Vander might just be my favorite moment of the show, not just because of all of the scenes and moments building up to it, but because the bond between the sisters and their bond with Vander is my favorite part of the show. While I love most of Arcane's characters and find all of the plot points interesting, the sisters are the heart and the soul of the story and every time they're on screen together just makes me feel so many different emotions on a different level than anything else in the show. Throw in Vander, whose relationship with the sisters always makes me deeply emotional, and you got me bawling my eyes out.

As “Kino” mentioned, whatever the child from this affair inherited is of terrible interest to the black rose. The black rose isn’t just a witch cult, it’s a whole underground society. Similar to ambessa, they covet power. What was revealed in this episode was that Mel’s powers originate from whoever Ambessa had an affair with. These powers are, not confirmed but are highly speculated, to be of solari origin (targon origin). This does make sense because Ambessa’s hometown is on the west side of shurima, very close to targon. It wouldn’t make sense for this person to also be a black rose member. Since there seems to be 0 relation between the black rose and this town. As for the person who has captured Mel, this is LeBlanc, the leader of the black rose. She is many hundreds of years old. There is no possible way that she is a half sibling of Mel, their births are nowhere close to each other. The theory just doesn’t really add up when you consider the rest of the lore. The reason why Leblanc said “sister” to Mel was either because of the “witch sisterly” bond they share as mages, and that she wants Mel to be part of the black rose, or because she is taunting Mel as she was JUST disguised as Kino, her brother.

There's the theory that at least Vander loved Felicia, more than just a friend. So when the revolution happened, Silco did something that led to Felicia's death (as we saw quickly in the flashback). Vander lost it and tried to kill Silco. Now, maybe Silco did go rogue or failed in his part of the plan and that led to Felicia's death.

Yeah and after that Vander realized, that there are more important things than their revolutionary plans for Zaun. He started to put family and keeping Felicitas kids alive in front of fighting Piltover and started a new course for keeping peace. Silco never really understood what happened and mostly felt betrayed by Vanders attempt to kill him. Maybe if he had found this letter and realized the reason for Vanders betrayal, everything would have been different. But they never had the chance to become clear.

If you go back and look at the beginning during the 'new Vi' montage in the arena, when they're lifting up their betting slips in the air, you can actually see Jinx's painted nails. She's been there watching her for quite some time.

They still fought and bickered, but Vander was what made them both put aside their differences and come together.

Amazing reactions, great editing, the counters and the wide screen on beautiful scenes is a nice touch. You also pay attentions a pick up a lot of details, parallels and double meaning that are hard to catch on a first watch. Picking up on the mom's colour hair, the letter for Silco that represent Vi and Jinx and the fact that there is still a chance for them or even small thinks like the fact that they fought like siblings at the beginning, not easy to see on a first watch + having to react ! One small non important thing you missed (that's almost impossible to see tbh) is that the reason Jinx use a lighter and is not clapping at the end of the fight his because the mushrooms thingies that produce the light got destroyed during the fight (you can see them being destroyed when Vi is slammed into the walls lol poor Vi).

Even though it's not the most popular episode, I sincerely believe it's one of the best. The expressions on Powder's face as she ignites her lighter in the dark... it's simply a work of art. She’s holding on to the child, shaken by a sudden realization that she might have put both her sister, Violet, and her adoptive sister, Isha, in serious danger. Her eyes filled with painful uncertainty, uncontrollable fear, and glimmering hope -- all at once, all of them burning within her kind, yet broken heart, burning softly like a fleeting flame. All those emotions mixed with throat-locking dread, then unfathomable relief, as she noticed Violet is alive, hugging the beast that was once their father, a man she has always loved but never got a chance to express her gratitude, unable to apologize for her irreversible mistake, an error that haunted her grief-tormented mind ever since. A single tear falling down her cheek when she hears her sister’s invitation tells a story that not even a thousand words could ever explain. Her whole face shivering with volcano of bottled-up sorrow that has now turned into blissful euphoria as she realizes the world gave her a second chance to regain what she has always wanted - a loving family.

Respectfully, that was not a person... yall might wanna rewatch that scene and pay attention specifically to their mouths. When they were in the wild rune if you paid attention they were in a dimension that it could not be seen however when back at the room for the hexgates which are deep underground you see it. If you need further proof you can go back to the episode when Joyce, echo, and Heimerdinger are in that room and like in this episode pay attention to their mouths. 😮‍💨
