Montana's befuddlement of being attracted to Kuvira is super relatable, plus Zelda William's voice is as smooth as silk. Also one of the best Avatar "villians" if you can even really call her that. Since she is purely how she is due to the worlds circumstances.

Yeah in the beginning she's really a villain of perspective. She's genuinely trying to do what she thinks is best for the Earth Nation and its people and wants to help but recognizes that there's these obstacles that she HAS to overcome and coming from a "military" type background the only way she knows how to do that is with force . So its not thats she really a villain in the beginning, its just that she's relying on what she knows best and expects everyone to understand that. Its only as we get further into the series that she starts to become what I consider to be a "real" villain because at that point she's doing things that she has to know is bad no matter what way you slice it as she doubles this tunnel vision about accomplishing her goals and a "the ends justify the means" mentality. its actually one of the reasons I why like most of the villains in Legend of Korra over the more obvious villains in Last Airbender. With the exception of Unalock, the villains in LoK are all very complex adversaries and dont fit neatly into the traditional villainous role, and because of that, are way more threatening and dangerous than Ozai or any of the other villain characters in Last Airbender were.

I just realized something. Korra takes place 70 years later after the original series. She was 17 when she came to Republic City and 18 years old during season 2 and 3. Then the three year time skip happen and she's 21 years old now. So that mean it's been 73 years since then. Sozin's comet appears once every 100 years right so that means there's 27 years left before it returns. So Korra being 21 plus the 27 years later, means she will be 48 years old by then! Imagine how powerful she will be since her go to element is fire 🔥🔥

I just love time jumps. They are a bit tricky to pull of, but when done right they open up so many doors. And it really was done well here. We get a good looks at to how everyone has been doing (and how much some wish they could be doing something else) and introducing so many new things like the flight suits. But the biggest change is naturally saved for the following episode (which is one of my personal favorites)

Montanna simping Asami and Kuvira is just everything, I feel so represented hahah Also the way that Asami stresses how excited she is to have Korra back and the way she reacts when she finds out that Korra’s ship is arriving is so cute #korrasami I’m so excited for the next episode reaction, Korra Alone is probably the best episode of the whole series for me. The fact that the only other character whom had a self-titled episode was Zuko comes to show just how complex these two characters are! Plus it has the best ending ever!!!

I mean, I don't think we've ever had a whole story about a non-bender and knowing more about Suki and her kioshi warrior skills is going to be amazing. In fact, I will try to buy it directly from Amazon Brazil, so I don't have to pay international shipping fees. I am slowly building my Avatar collection, unfortunately all the novels and comics are very overpriced here in Brazil because they were not published here, but I already have Korra’s Turf Wars and Ruins of the Empire, and of course the Kioshi novels which are my favorite!

And hey, perhaps we will have Suki thinking back on her order's lessons which could turn into references to those novels or even information about Kyoshi we hadn't learn before, like how Turf War confirmed her being bisexual was a part of the historical record before her novels came out. Could be extra fun then! I would argue that while yes Kuvira is bad, the Earth Queen was worse as a person. The only difference is, that Kuvira is more charismatic and has the personal strength to take drastic actions.

@@sombresunset Be that as it may, SPOILERS: Later in this season we see how, as much as it sucks to say it, the average Earth Kingdom citizen was better off under the Queen than Kuvira (as it usually goes with dictators that get in power via instability). The Queen drafted Airbenders yes, but under Kuvira you were at risk of being put in a concentration camp for speaking against her. Zaofu was a thriving metropolis under the Queen, but became a center for war following Kuvira's conquest of it. And let's not forget how Kuvira literally tied Zhu Li to a pole to use her as live target practice for the cannon. Plus, I'm pretty sure during all the action in Republic City during the last two episodes, there were plenty of implied civilian casualties from all nation's we didn't see on screen.

One of the things I really like about the air suits is that it shows that Tenzin is willing to modernize. In the first few seasons he was really bound by old traditions and that didn’t necessarily work with Korra or the new airbenders, so it’s cool that he’s willing to embrace newer technology with the suits, which seem to have effectively replaced both traditional Airbender robes as well as the gliders. At the same time they’re still honoring the old, by keeping them in the traditional Airbender colors.

I'm so glad Kuvira not only plays such a big role in this season (it's not a spoiler - it's blindingly obvious) but we also get some details about her from the comics (not saying if she's involved in the comics or to what extent if she is......) that really fleshed her out. Zaheer is the best villain but she's my favorite. ALSO her eyebrows slay me and I'd probably follow her anywhere to my own detriment. All hail the great uniter!

This season gets overshadowed by Book 3 but there's so much to love. Prince Wu's antics, a certain Korra thing that hasn't yet appeared on the channel so Imma be quiet, Kuvira's eyebrows, and the underlying plots that stir under the surface of the larger one.

I have so much to say about Kuvira, but at the risk of spoilers, I'll keep it to this: Kuvira is (to me) a classic example of a decent person utilizing evil means to achieve their end. It doesn't mean they ARE evil at their core, but the core has been smothered by their goal.

Cities and towns prospering because actual infrastructure has been weaved through a continent larger than Africa. the positives greatly out way the negatives...that being said I can only talk so much living in the US it goes from Conversion Therapy to Nukes its not so different. Napoleon was a megalomaniac who brought order to France after complete destabilization. He's revered for creating the base of the new modern France. the Mongols, looked at as savages similarly Conquered a continent that once seemed endless to them. The Mongol empire spared teachers of taxation and led to the great spread of printing all over East Asia. They also helped the rise of an educated class in Korea and so on. but still masses of people died... will see what history chooses to remember. this is why characters like Kuvira are so fascinating.

@@adriencloud2130 1 If you look at the map the EK isn't bigger than Africa. 2 thanks to Kuvira there are now radicals who are devoutly loyal to her, which would probably use the technology she helped develop to start civil wars again. If you look at the comics, not even a year after she was denounced another dictator rose from her military that's not a good thing. Her efforts are completely wasted because the EK didn't unite, there's still a dictatorship and she just manufactured dangerous weapons for a nation that doesn't even consider themselves the same people. Kuvira just made more negatives don't let the advanced technology fool you.

They try to code her as fascist but she is much more like Chiang Kai-shek. She is a nationalist and modernist figure reuniting the China analogue after a period of division and civil war spurned by the collapse of the Qing dynasty analogue riding around in a train with a modern army. The parallels with Chiang are so much more cogent than the weird attempts they keep going for to make her into Hitler.
