It doesn't make sense for Light to expressly bring Mikami IN PERSON (other than the symbolic meaning and satisfaction of having his Servant meet the Master/God in person, although that kinda collides with the whole distant and "invisible" Old Testament routine he had going with Mikami up until now...) to kill his enemies - he could have done it remotely, with a bug camera placed on his own body or watch, f.e.. We are talking about the man who used a mini-sized TV inside a bag of crisps to surpass an extreme 24/7 surveillance and which now has access to top police military high-tech equipment, after all (which is why the Takada/Light written communication blatant slip-up - that even blundering Aizawa could pick up on - makes very little sense as well. Light wouldn't have let that slip and he would have easily found an alternative and much less suspicious way for them to communicate). This final arc looks less like an "hybris" and "hamartia" tragic combo on Light’s part and more like sloppy-ish writing of an ending, really trying hard in a quite far-fetched and "close the circle" way to have Light succumb to L's (less or more L-ly??) disciple... [With Mello's character - the more Light-ish and interesting of L's two halves - and potential development being shortcuted and squandered along the way, as well...] A considerable amount of more interesting and ironic/tragic endings could have been developed and put to action in this last saga: 1. Have Mikami kill (only? also?) Light, judging him as an "evildoer" according to his own fundamentalist standards or simply driven by his own envy to (finally!) be «God» himself (he has a lot of Light's more methodical and strict and censorious self in him, after all + his desires, honed since childhood, to be The [Only] One to have the power to enact Justice); 2. Have Light be the victim of his own Kira-ist/Kira-devoted society and summarily executed for all to see not much longer after he had made his first public appearance (deliberately or against his will - e.g. Misa divulging his name, more or less unambiguously, wanting him to be known as God. Or even Light himself openly proclaiming to be Kira/God and being publicly judged by His People - via another Death Note, a “collective” one, preferably) as the "God of the New World" -> «But then you'll be the only bad person left...», as Ryuk once said; 3. Have Near and Light kill each other in this last clash/duel, thus freeing the World of their madness/genius for the generations to come - and of the sinful knowledge and use of the Death Note - and actually giving Humanity a chance for a rebirth, where no remnants of either Light or L exist, leaving it up for the rest of the human species to have the chance to fail again (or not) and be tempted by the devilish Ryuk once again (or not); 4. Have Light win but be left in a New World of unfamiliar faces, without any family and loved ones (all dead, estranged or mad, like Sayu) until he goes absolutely Shakespeare-King Lear-mad, loses all control and foresight and can't entertain Ryuk anymore, thus resulting in Ryuk putting an end to his misery/boredom, killing him and abandoning the mortal realm in order to escape tedium and returning to the Shinigami World to tell his tale (and search for Shinigami Light?); 5. A "End of Evangelion" ending of sorts: Have Light win and create a New World where the use of the Death Note is collective, unceasing and explicitly public at all times, effectively creating a dystopian society where any human is left to fend for itself and completely incapable of relying, trusting or loving another. Humanity dwindling its numbers slowly but surely towards complete annihilation. Light would die of old age or surrender himself to suicide as he found himself incapable of living with the knowledge of his creation (= much akin to Commander Joseph Lawrence in "The Handmaid's Tale"). This ending could either culminate with Light being the only human left (hence the "End of Evangelion" reference) and with Ryuk laughingly accomplishing to exterminate both the Human World and the Shinigami World (no humans left to sap and tinker with) in the process or with Light dying prematurely, not wanting to witness the apocalyptical culmination of his work anymore; Just a couple of rough sketches.

I see what you mean but at the same time that’s kind of an unnecessary risk. Suppose they did a surprise check up and check everything he has for temperament thoroughly before he is let in. Like if Nears plan hinged to heavily on making sure Mikami arrived I’d imagine he’d have something of precaution to be sure that it happens. To try to sneak something in would be a risk, and given he was certain his plan would succeed, an unnecessary one. And honestly I don’t Light could have come out of this winning if Near did take precaution. Since Near set the location, he could easily have bugged the place, and had someone who has since been left completely unknown to Light or Mikami surveilling. Then, regardless of the outcome, they’d have their evidence. Edit: I’m said suppose they did a check up but for all we know they did. No one expects the watch to be hiding paper inside but a camera or a bug would probably have been detected.

The Shinigami is not Light! In the death note universe all people go to Nu (nothingness) when they die. Its an actual law of the Death Note.

1)Sido said Ryuk stole his Death Note. Sido went to Ryuk to get it back. Sido found out his Death Note was in Las Angles. Then went to find it. 2)Ryuk had two Death Notes his and Sidos. Ryuk was said to have tricked the Shinigami King into giving him a second Death Note. Ryuk dropped a Death Note into the human world. 3)Gealous’ (who died saving Misa) Death Note was probably given to Misa by REM. 4)Rem has her own Death Note.

Light only ever revealed he was Kira to gloat but not just gloat he specifically gloated with only 3 people Naomi L and near he did it because all of them were incredibly intelligent and smart and could pose as threats to Kira or rivals which light hated he had to kill them yes but he couldn’t just kill them he had to make sure that anyone he recognised as a opponent knows that they lost to him that he was superior he couldn’t handle not being the smartest person in the room everyone had to know he was the smartest even those that would die he couldn’t let them have the peace that they died unrelated they had to know it was him that he was superior Also one thing you notice is that while near is explaining his plan while mikami is still writing in the notebook which wouldn’t make sense if that was his only trick because then if it wasn’t a trap mikami would hear this stop and run away which lets us know that near had a extra trick up his sleeve or he wouldn’t have said that right in front of mikami or would have completely botched the plan which is how you know that near had a extra trick It’s so simple yet neither Light nor mikami noticed this however

Did Matsuda, who is possibly no longer a police officer, get in trouble for shooting Light? To Matsuda, and everyone in the warehouse, Matsuda shot a deranged Light who was going to kill using a piece of the Death Note to kill someone. To outsiders Light was an unarmed (without a weapon) civilian(?) that was murdered(?). Mikami in the manga was said to have been arrested and died in prison. Misa having no memory of Shinigami and killing with the Death Note. She remembers she loves Light. Unless she still has the pages of a Death Note that Light gave her. She possibly predicted that Takada would be executed by Kira which Takada was. Light did not kill his father nor was it his fault his dad died. His father and the Kira Task Force could have disobeyed Lights orders to find Mellow, and left with the Death Note. Not sure if they would have gotten out alive expect due to they were needed to continue the plot of the show. People not controlled by a Death did not have to follow orders from anyone. Some decided to follow someone’s orders of their own free will.

Mikami wrote the names always in the fake notebook while he sent sms messages to Takada with those names, so she can do the actual killings with real pages from the actual notebook. At least until she died.

You are right about that, and its a bummer that they don't have the time to go into many specifics about this in the show compared to the manga.@@jacksonjames6071My logical guess is that in most cases its public information and the faces can be found easily through internet/tv/newspaper. However that one kill on the subway is unlikely to have worked this way, without him actually sending picture info as well with the face. And it was the first and most important time that he tricked them using Takada. So he must have used it in there at least, even though we never see it specifically happening. Maybe he just had phone camera on and sent text with image as well. Who knows, we will never know, those episodes did feel a bit rushed after all. Mostly the Near era.

@@guifdcanalli Killing Takada, L , Ray and his wife all done for self defence. So that they can't reveal his identity. And why in the first place they tried to stop him. Act without thinking of our own has it's consequences , which is the cause of every single Agent death. And those agents are controlled by L not Light so L is the one who is responsible for their deaths. Nobody sacrificed it's soul just for fame and Light even stop Misa senseless killings which shows he is concern about innocent lives.
