It was said, in the dark corners of the universe, that the I fury of a Time Lord could burn worlds. It was whispered, in rad-lairs and necro-domes and other shadowy refuges too dangerous to name aloud, that the Time Lords had meddled so long and so deeply with the fabric of the cosmos that their will had become a law unto itself. The rage of Gallifrey was a celestial event. No being could stand against it, no more than one could weather a black hole's hunger or the fury of a newborn star. And, of all those wayward, volatile children of Time, none was more feared than the Doctor, for his fury had burned the Time Lords themselves.

Something about the one with the mother from the family of Blood. How she's literally being slowly sucked into not just the void of space, but an event horizon, and the Doctor stands there just feet away, close enough for the suction to still move his clothes, with just the deadest look on his face, then when she's gone, without changing expressions just turns and pulls the lever to leave is some of the coldest shit I've ever seen in a show.

Tenant was my favorite, because above all else, he had a darkness in him. It felt like he, above most others, was always on the brink of going "too far." Like one woman. He sends her off to do something, and lies to her, telling her she'll be fine. She died in the process. While her sacrifice was necessary, the fact he could so coldly do that... I don't think he was evil, but his cost/risk analyses was insane.

@@Veela666 I preferred RTD's storylines for doctor who during David Tennant over any other doctor. The characters and synergy between them and also the villans, daleks, cybermen and the master were executed so well I felt as though they were ruined with their doctors after, made to look weak and almost comedic as opposed to a true rival. Torchwood, DW and Sarah Jane adventures running simultaneously and collaborating so well, we've had nothing of the sort since.

Every species that got powerful enough to go beyond normal space found only one thing waiting for them, timelords who had already conquered everything first. It was vexing to see them sitting on their thrones condescendingly claiming to be merciful when the only reason was because they did not have to be violent anymore. But no matter how upsetting it was, you also had to be thankful that they really were merciful, that they obeyed the rules they themselves set, or else the moment you got on their nerves even once, the only thing waiting for you would be the elimination of your species before it could even walk.

10 was rightly the favorite for those who came to Doctor Who with the new production values starting with 9. The old fans will always have a soft spot for Baker, the consistent old school favorite.

This is the greatest acting challenge for anyone who wants to play the Doctor. On the one hand, the Doctor is a kind and happy-go-lucky fellow who travels through time and space, helping out and has no hesitation about being silly. And then you need to be able to flip on a dime into someone who has not just seen the best of the universe, but also the worst. A viciously intelligent, centuries old creature who knows exactly why you are not worth saving. And has both the capacity and emotional fortitude to destroy you.
