OVAs are "official" episodes created by the studio that were never aired on TV alongside the original seasons (I believe all the Haikyuu ones were included in the DVD copies of the seasons as a bonus to incentivize buying them). Apparently not all OVAs for all anime are considered "canon" but the Haikyuu ones are, they aren't intended to provide any new information but more to give additional context around what happens in the main series. They can be skipped without missing anything meaningful but they're worth watching if you enjoy the characters. If you're interested, the game Karasuno/Kenma was playing is a parody of the Monster Hunter series of games, it's very popular in Japan but gained a lot of traction in the past several years in the US. The 2 most recent releases and their expansions are on sale right now on Steam for the 20th anniversary of the franchise, which also happens to be today! Y'all messin' with YZ about 8/11 was crackin' me up lmao

'Not asleep just disappointed' should be merch imo lol Also lev and kenma is a great duo in terms of 'unhindered ball of unthinking energy' and 'i am so tired please leave me alone' lmao - the way that the game was an analogy to trying to understand lev and the way that saving the cat and agreeing on the team chant being weird were two things they actually connected on for once was a neat thing to me about showing different personalities in a team sport where you *have* to get along to win essentially even if you have ZERO clue what someone's deal is lol Kuroo being present throughout to neutrally comment on things while watching his friend get frustrated and pointing out something in the game but something that ties kenma to volleyball as a game: he likes challenges lol, despite his general exhaustion with doing things, and that's what contributed to lev finally syncing up once - there really is a character for everyone in haikyuu imo ^-^ And i think it's funny karasuno breaks their game instead at the end while kenma wins his lmaO (too soon for that match loss reference, animators, too soon- ; - ;) karasuno has a ways to go~ XD

9:06 Karasuno and Nekoma have so many parallels because apparently the creator's original choice for main characters/team is Nekoma. I don't know the exact reason why the creator and editors decided to go another way though. 10:13 There's an org with a channel here on Ytube called Canopy Cat Rescue; a group of arborists that rescue cats from your normal suburban trees in the backyard, to tall tree species where they need legit climbing gear. 6:00 It's hard to directly translate the term "chibi". Yes it can be used to tease small people, but it also has a connotation of "cute". So it's a term to tease short people but with affection; more affectionate than English-speaking people using "shrimp". Of course, if you're a male high school athlete who wants to be taken seriously by tall and skilled players, neither small nor cute are flattering words, no matter how affectionate it is haha.

I think they pronunce it in 2 syllables like Liev (Li-ev)
@elijahagapito62847 ай бұрын
I think that is just because of their accent, not because that is actually how it pronounced. I could be wrong though

For some help, Lev's name is pronounced 'leh-v' (like in level). However, given how japanese works, the characters pronounces his name as 'lee-ev-'.
