Devon cracked Levan's wrist, but he just switched to a flop press and destroyed him regardless. Devon achieved what he wanted to achieve since their first encounter, he defeated the wrist only to find out there are at least 2-3 health bars and boss stages next.

The thing is, Devon knows more than anyone that he unfortunately has mortal limits. He physically can’t hope to match the side pressure and bicep strength of Levan as someone who is 15 years older and 100 lbs lighter. Especially now that he is older, trying to put on the pure size and arm strength he would need would just lead to injury and other health problems that would end up working against him. So if anything he should be proud that his training in the hand paid off and that at the very least he held the beast and made round one a spectacle. Love you Devon !!

I think the problem with all of this speculation about how might Devon beat Levan in the future is that it's just not realistic. Devon had to already become a chemistry experiment for the last 4-6 years just to hang with the super heavy weights. He went crazy with it for the last 2 years after resoundingly losing the first time, only to get himself to the #2 position and still end up one-sidedly slaughtered by Levan. He'd have to maintain his current status as a walking pharmacy just to keep what he already has, and go even further to add in the necessary side pressure to *maybe* beat Levan. The level of gear he's already on isn't really sustainable at any age, let alone a man pushing 50. I think the reason Devon looked so defeated after EvW 12 is because he knows he's not the guy to beat Levan. It's going to have to be someone else, who is younger and has more health to sacrifice.

Great Vid, Exactly what I was thinking. Ermes needs to see this video but he already knows this. If he keeps improving his hand and wrist etc (which he has been rapidly improving as shown in training weight vids) I believe Ermes can become undisputed No2 Super heavyweight within 6 months. Beating Levan may never be achievable but he has a chance, nothing is gaurenteed even Levan

A lot people triying to lowballing Levan, you missed the fact Devon destroyed Ermes' back pressure with a press after he took his wrist, so this actual Levan can destroy Ermes back pressure as welll, more still knowing he learned about that experience, improved overall, and opened Devon's arm with his insane pronation in the fisrt round. What I want to say is actual Levan has no weak points now. He can press anyone, he can hold anyone, he can side pressure anyone, he can top roll anyone, he can hook anyone without lose position or hand control.

You can only pronate as far as your elbow and shoulder allow it. Pronation is the twisting of your forearm bones. When you lean over and your hand is in a pronated position it requires strength in your pronator teres to hold the position. To pin in a top roll you must lean your body over to carry through with pronated position. Leaning over basically is moving your humerus over with the strength of your shoulder to allow the elbow to pull your pronated forearm along with it. If the shoulder strength isn’t enough to bring your pronated forearm with it then you will open up towards a supinated forearm position. In short, shoulder moves elbow which allows isolated pronation to follow through. Top rolling should not be trained with isolated flexors.

Side pressure is something Devon has struggled against. I think a great example of this was WAL 501 vs Todd Hutchings (and also WAL 504 vs Dave Chaffee). I think Devon relies on his technical knowledge of the game and beats people by cutting them off from their power through the hand and wrist. Problem with that is Levan's strength allows him multiple lanes.... I want to see Devon vs Jerry for North America #1. Would be awesome to see how Devon does against Jerry's flop.

If devon would have put more effort into just his bicep strength alone that would have been enough to stop the match and give him a fighting chance. dude he is giving up 100lbs to him. It has nothing to do with his training. Devon is 2nd best in the world and most def the best when you get out of the superheavies. Lb per Lb he is the best, no way around it. Devon can't walk around at 400lbs, that's the issue.
@Haikami
@Haikami Ай бұрын
Really? I don't think he lacks side pressure at all. Devon was able to beat Genadi in a hook back when he wasn't even training it. Dave was able to open Ermes multiple times and beat Laletin with his side pressure, while Devon dominated him in a hook in round 1. I thought what Devon lacked was back pressure or bicep strength. I don't think he could ever have an explosive back pressure like Ermes but a static bicep hold like Denis would work with his style

I wish devon would change his specialization and try to catch up in his arm strength. Focusing on back pressure, bicep, side and and tone down on hand and wrist a bit. He has room to grow surely Devon has full specialization ( hand and wrist ) and low generalization ( side, bicep, back ) . Levan has Full specialization ( cup ) and high generalization ( side, back, bicep )

What he needs is really easy. He needs 150 more pounds and most of it to be muscle. This weight difference in this elite sportmanship is a huge barrier. He can beat 90% of men who outweight him, but not world class arm wrestlers. It's the same in any sport.

Tbh I wish Devon would have tried to transition quickly in round 1 after he cracked levan, though he wanted to sit there and talk. I wish Devon would have went ALL out for this seemingly last shot. But he didn't. His low weight and lack of side pressure training shows that.

I agree about side pressure, but Devon's back pressure is pretty strong and Levan said same thing. Also i don't agree about Levan's wrist. It was fine in later rounds, his flat wrist was strong enough to beat Devon's pronation and back pressure and only time it was bent back when Levan was close to pin pad, because at that time Devon was in king's move position.
@rattotakki

What if Levan didn’t train the press ? He is very smart, when he faced Ermes he couldn’t make transition to press, he tried at least two times without success. Levan now trained transition to press as he expected that his hand might be compromised against Devon… Levan is not only strong, he is incredibly smart as well

Yes they re allowed in that there is no testing at all. In this case Devon is probably on some sort of TRT program but he started it too late in life and I dont believe he has ever done actually cycles with PCT (just my guess). Levan is a walking pharmacy, and has many many years of PED enhanced gym time over Devon.

Love Devon. He's one of my favorites. But I think it's out of the scope for him to actually achieve an arm power close to Levans. Or rather strong enough to pin Levan. @@acurex249 for real. Even when he did do that small hit to the side, Levans hand gave more while Devon’s stayed locked. That tells me that he could have been more aggressive. Or atleast protected his arm angle/shoulder position better. Laying out for that kingsmove destroyed his arm. He needed to stay up and fight harder for center before Levan flopped. At least we would have seen a longer fight. Maybe Devon thought he could bleed him and wasn’t expecting Levan to flop round 1.
@topnotchtsi
@topnotchtsi Ай бұрын
@@Dmgolfer22 Or.....or.....he couldn't because its not like you think and Devon had no advantage there other than to hold. Let off the gas any little bit to move his body forward and that arm was probably going sideways. Thats the most logical reason I can think of that he didn't attempt it. Then before he had time to make up his mind, boom flop press out of nowhere.
@Dmgolfer22
@Dmgolfer22 Ай бұрын
@@topnotchtsi yeah when Levan was actually going side. But there was a few seconds when Levan wasn’t going side just holding and thinking. Devon’s face in that moment wasn’t one of 100% redline. At the minimum he probably should have protected his arm/shoulder angle more anticipating a potential flop. Or just let it go once Levan flopped then round 2 do the same but with more shoulder commitment. I personally think we could have seen a longer fight round 1 or a good fight a couple of rounds atleast if Devon’s arm didn’t get fully stretched in a kings move. Getting pinned is okay as long as your with your arm. My $ is still on Levan but holding onto that press trashed Devon’s ability to apply backpressure IMO.

Devon needs to wear 3lb ankle weight straps on his wrist and walk around and go allday wearing them, and focus side pressure growth and an even stronger back. He's 48, shit hurts everywhere I am sure...gaining strength is still very possible.
@TheModularian
@TheModularian Ай бұрын
It's literally just strength disparity from weight disparity... If Levan deigned to drop even 30 kg, imagine how much closer that would have been. 60 kg is too much for anyone to overcome on technique alone, when you're both at the top of the world. They have the same problems- they've beaten everyone there is to beat around their weight range, so all they are left with is handicapping themselves by cutting down for lower weights, or taking the disadvantage and going up. Levan doesn't have anyone he can fight weighing 60 kg more than him, and doesn't want to cut too much weight either. There's not much more to be done until new blood enters the game, and my money is 100% on Brian Shaw. He finally clears his schedule enough to focus on arm wrestling as his main goal, with Devon's coaching, he'll be a fucking MENACE within 2 years.
