He wasn't going for any aggressive pins, but he was definitely not letting anybody win. When you are at the top of a sport you can't stay in peak shape all the time because the body will wear down increasing the risk on injuries and the high doses of PEDs will also destroy your body. So Levan taking time off is actually very smart, which is one of the reasons why he's been undefeated for so long.

In a slow practice pull, Irakli will school Prudnik but in a match it can be completely the other way around. If Prudnik gets the first hit and Irakli is stuck defending on his bicep, he just may gas out right there and Prudnik has very good endurance to last him many rounds

It's the standard and optimum thing to do. Stronger one holds and gives the weaker players something to work with until fatigue makes them somewhat equal. Practice makes no sense if you just keep pinning or get pinned.
