Non-verbal communication varies significantly across different cultures. For example, eye contact can indicate confidence and honesty in Western cultures, but it might be seen as rude or confrontational in some Asian cultures. Gestures, such as the thumbs-up sign, can have positive meanings in some countries but offensive ones in others. Personal space is another area where cultural differences are evident; some cultures prefer close proximity during conversations, while others value more distance. Interestingly, in Japan, bowing is a common form of greeting and showing respect, whereas in most Western countries, a handshake is more typical.
