You had to stay closer to the boss: the sludge beams were much much stronger than their status DPS, but you were often too far away for the actual beam to hit it

Pickled Nitra would have been the play at the end, and you were always running out of range off the Boss, the Sludge didnt hit him.

As far as i know, only the initial hit crits, so crit goggles is a huge dps decrease. Just a flat-30% on most of the damage from sludgepump. Edit: did some quick math. I suck at math, so take this with a grain of salt: crit goggles with at around 50% crit is between 30-40% (?)dps increase on initial hit, and a flat -30% decrease on Dot damage.

Does the damage tick per beam? or does extra beams just mean it covers more area?

The “damage” hits as each beam hits. The damage over time or status effect will apply to anything that has been touched by a beam or walks over the area effected. So, short answer, both.

He picked up status effect buffs only twice, but more to the point only having minimal stat buff he would know to guarantee the sludge beams ACTUALLY hit the bosses

You have to upgrade other weapon so other weapon can help you destroy the swarm instead you keep upgrading the maxed weapon.

I do wish it was a bit stronger…but it’s also probably not meant to be leveled to 34 lol, more a support/DPS hybrid.

@@OHRyePlays I can see that as a possible thought process for them but it just sort of goes to support a comment I made on one of your videos before. It's always a little weird to me when devs do heavy nerfs in single player games. In multiplayer stuff sure go ahead, it's vital to continued player engagement that one gun/class/ build etc isn't just smashing everyone's face in over and over. In single player games though it's kind of a victimless crime. Unless it's some straight up exploit crap it's almost always better (imo) to add fun new weapons or just improve the underperforming ones. And boy does deep rock Galactic survivor have some underperforming weapons. I feel like the nerfing of fun weapons/strategies ultimately just drives players away and creates more problems than it solves. Another good option is buffing enemies or adding hard ones to balance things out. But anyways, sorry if I went on too long there.

@@OHRyePlays na sludge can kill the boss. you just took EE5. DoT cannot crit and global damage is BY FAR the most important stat for driller. Gold tipped bullets and Pickle nitra are by far most powerful artifacts for the driller. the fact you reduced DoT damage by -30% was a terrible decision despite all other broken upgrades you got.
