The first activation is shown at 5:25
This is the Belgrave Street level crossing at Kempsey, New South Wales. It is located on the North Coast Line which connects Sydney and Brisbane.
The original signals were installed here on December 5, 1974. They were replaced by the current signals some time around 2009, although the original median signal was retained on the eastern side of the crossing.
Both gated signals have Western Cullen Hayes bases, Safetran gate mechanisms, United Group LED lights and Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bells. The bell on the western signal rings from start up until the gates have lowered, while the bell on the eastern signal rings for the entire activation, it is a new bell which was recently installed to replace the previous one which had died.
The eastern median signal has an unmarked base and McKenzie & Holland lights fitted with United Group LED's. The western median signal has a Western Cullen Hayes base and United Group LED lights.
Both pedestrian crossings have Alstom LED lights and Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates

Nice, another new m-bell installed. Still, I have to wonder why they replaced the signals here in the first place?

Thanks! I’m not sure of their reasoning behind replacing the original signals, but around that time they replaced the older signals at several other North Coast crossings so I’m guessing it could have been age related.

@@McKHAustThere was one crossing in Taree with GRS/WRRS Type D mechs that received a similar upgrade at the same time from what I observed on GSV. When were those signals installed? BTW, I have numerous late 1990s-early 2000s cab view DVDs from Channel 5 Productions of the Maryvale freight train and the Frankston, Sandringham, Glen Waverley, and Upfield lines. They’re so much interesting equipment and crossings, including long removed crossings (Westall Road and Cranbourne Road), various crossings after Pakenham when they were still gateless (including Safetran bells at Racecourse Road, Pakenham, Nar Nar Goon, and Drouin), the various hand operated crossings that existed on the Upfield line until the late 1990s (shot from Comeng set 363M-1032T-364M, one of the first scrapping victims of the stupid Comeng retirements), various Teardrop bells, and much more. I might have to share screengrabs of the DVDs with you, as they contain great footage from long before Daniel “Big Ears” Andrews ruined everything.

I have been unable to find the installation date for Muldoon Street, Taree but the signals had very similar equipment to Kempsey so would be around the same age, and both were replaced about the same time.

If they ever had their bells Replaced, im straight up gonna make a Startup company that will have some Random videogame easter egg noises as the Bell, so Fellow trainspotters can be like "HOLY CRAP IS THAT THE NOISE GOING WOAG FROM PIZZA TOWER!?"
