This was the Warrigal Road level crossing at Mentone, Victoria. It was located on the Frankston line in southeast Melbourne.
These gated signals were installed on July 27 1983. They were removed from service on October 4, 2023 as part of grade separation works, with a new temporary crossing being constructed nearby.
Both gated signals had unmarked bases, Westinghouse HB gate mechanisms, wishbone gates with Artcraft lights and General Signals Type 2 electronic bells. The northern signal had two pairs of Westinghouse incandescent lights and one pair of McKenzie & Holland lights, while the southern signal had three pairs of McKenzie & Holland lights. The upper lights on each signal were mounted on McKenzie & Holland crossarms and the lower lights mounted on Westinghouse crossarms. Each signal had one very old and rare McKenzie & Holland light which had provision to attach a rear facing lens unit.
Both gate-less signals had unmarked bases and a pair of Westinghouse incandescent lights, with the southern signal having extremely short visors for some reason. Both pedestrian crossings had Magnetic Autocontrol swing gates.
