Don't worry about trespassing, Italy is very different from the US. If there's not a gate, it's free. You can even cross a field with a fence without being shot.

Yes I understand. I would suggest visiting and traveling around to the different regions first and perhaps living here for a while before making that kind of commitment. Just my humble opinion. I’ve heard that being suggested from others too. Having travelled to Italy 🇮🇹 twice now it’s very important to really consider all the risks and rewards before making that kind of decision. Again just my humble opinion 🙏

They aren’t advertisements but obituaries because in small towns they are posted on walls , in addition to being published in newspapers.

on the billboard it was not local advertising but people who recently passed away, it is common, especially in the center and south, to find such announcements on the main square. Especially in the south it was also common that the dead in the coffin were driven slowly from the church through the main street to the cemetery, because the whole village could say goodbye and to give respect people walked behind the dead, it was the same with grandpa 31 years ago, at least until 20-30 years ago, in some very small villages it is still practiced but this tradition is slowly diminishing. This tradition also existed at positive events such as weddings, but people would walk from the bride's house to the church and almost the whole village would be involved. p.s. I'm originally also from the region of Molise, now I live since 1979 in Germany. My region is a region of emigrants, many live in Canada (Quebec), Usa (Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvanya, New Jersey), Argentina, Venezuela, UK, Belgium, Switzerland. We are not so many in Germany

@@Levelofcrazy allow me to explain this culture bit. Especially in little towns, there are such a boards to advertise about the funerals or the masses in memory of those who passed. You may read trigesimo on some of them, it's about a mass celebrated 30 days after the passing, so as to help the deceased' soul to get the paradise (or cut short the purgatory time). Often the deceased are known by a nickname, so that is stated on the board: in this way the people who knew the person may get to go to the funeral or mass. These boards are placed where the people may walk by often, like near the cemetery or the main square.
