I have the wax-tipped placement tool but gems, etc., don't stick to it. Is there something I need to do to soften it or make the wax sticky?

@@SimonSaysStamp yes, it's a replacement tip I'm trying to use. The original that came with the tool just splintered apart, never picked up anything. I can't even get it to pick up paper.
