When short on time I'll typically do 3x superset of pull ups and dips, followed by 3x supersets of horizontal rows and decline push ups or pike variety. If there's a better or more adaptable horizontal pulling exercise than the humble bodyweight row then I've yet to hear about it! Excellent work mate

So slightly different muscle focus I guess. Great video, particularly as I recently got rings, though would have liked a little more detail on how they compare to pull/chin-ups given that, as noted, rows are usually characterised as a progression towards pull ups. Currently, I'm hoping they may be significantly better for rear delts, which is likely disproportionately weak compared to front delts for most people (prob bad for posture). I'm still not entirely clued up on what movement planes the delts operate in tbh.
@Angry_Lion3 ай бұрын
Sure thing but bodybuilders dont do pull ups because the lat isnt the limiting factor

About time people showed rows some love! What I find frustrating, though, is that progressing from incline to horizontal is very hard to track. Even tiny changes in the position of the feet have a major impact and make it really hard for me to achieve proper progressive overload. That's where pull ups are a bit simpler.
@CaliToTheCrowd3 ай бұрын
They are a fantastic exercise! You're right though, the set up is so important to monitor, and that is why I try my best to have the EXACT same set up each time I do it - so worth it though 💪🏿

Superb excercise! I NEED to add these in ASAP as I also took them as beginner only. Stupid of me when I've only recently added machine cable low rows but using a wide bar for a shoulder width grip. Therefore I'm basically doing the machine version of THIS very excercise! It's benefits can be felt straight away as I'd previously only ever done close grip (palms facing) low cable rows. I immediately felt the big change in muscles being used (they pumped up) with it feeling like a SUPERB exercise for the entirety of the upper back

Great video man. I'm the only one doing rows at the calisthenics park, they're all missing out. The progression you show with scapular rotation is called "Arc Rows" btw. There is also Wide Rows to target your rear delts. My favourite has to be One Arm Rows. If you can do them horizontally you're hella strong. And finally a popular choice for the more advanced crowd is Front Lever Rows.
@CaliToTheCrowd2 ай бұрын
Thank you! And yeah I love one arm rows too, but you're right, they are not for the faint hearted and require a silly amount of strength. I currently do them at a big incline. p.s. I am VERY far away from front lever rows 😭😭😭
