Really love the tiny form factor and its pretty much silent. Unless you are going hardcore for a home server/lab, this form factor really provides all the basics.

Preordered mine today. Can´t wait for it! It´s to replace my I7 4790K, GTX 1080, 16GB RAM machine, which i use for half a decade now. As I am no triple A gamer, just enjoy more "classic" titles, from retro to 2010-2015 games at newest, I think, this little PC will give me the power I need, coupled with a SFF, and much less power usage, as energy prices rising like hell.
@alfwaibel4773 Жыл бұрын
@qtsssim You are probably right, but not much (less than 20%, GPU-wise, as I found out). For the price of much more electricity used. I will keep this machine, but will only use it from time to time. Want to have the HS99G for my everyday PC with Internet, work, gaming. And I just have an 1080p monitor, and just use to play games in 1080p, so I see no problem. ;) But thanks for the advise.
@alfwaibel4773 Жыл бұрын
@qtsssim After receiving it and finalizing it with two 2TB Samsung M.2 NVME SSDs, 32GB Ram, and some testing, I can confirm, that this little machine deranges my worthy good old gaming PC with the specs, shown in the main post. Although, you were right - the GPU power is a little bit less, but not much - around 5-7%, I guess. Probably it´s the more modern architecture with the fast lanes and better RAM. But for that electricity used, and with this quite silent performance, the HX99G is an absolute blast. Recommended!

The new "4090" laptops from MSI and ASUS have 320 Watt power supplies. So the 260 Watt in a SFF desktop seems downright reasonable by comparison.

I just ordered one od these last night. I was debating on going with the HX99G or NUCXi7. They both look great and will save space with the small form factor and vertical stance. The NucXi7 is a little but more powerful (with a laptop 3070 built in). And looks similar to a PS5 design (would fit right in side by side lol). But with the HX99G having the USB4 ports. I figured it could have potential for more upgrading such as eGPU (maybe a work around to attaching a desktop 3080 or higher if I change my mind off space). Tech is moving fast. But as far as small footprint & power. Think I'll be happy with it. Should be easy to travel with. & I have too many laptops as is. So I wanted something different for a small form factor.

the best part about the Minisforum AMD units is that they can comfortably run on a 24 volt (mobile) power system, being that the power bricks are 19 volt laptop equivalents (all be it at much higher power ratings, thats still MAX, not MIN, unlike the Intel units). This also means that if they are under-clocked, then they can also be comfortably used on a (good / suitable)12 volt power system too

Just imagine a 7900XTX with a Zen 4 CPU chiplet running beside the GPU die, you could have a no-compromise APU. The 24GB DDR6 is more than enough to run your OS and games, adding a CPU to a GPU board design is much better than running a GPU off of desktop DDR5. This is basically how consoles are built, they effectively just run the OS inside VRAM, there is no good reason PCs can't do the same.
