I am back!! :) Great video. Storage containers are now cheaper to buy than a large metal storage shed. It's just crazy. I'm glad it is working out for you all. :)

So crazy, right? Moving the second one was a huge challenge for us, because we wanted it to be exactly lined up with this one. We got it done, but we were super sore the next few days.

Good job! I used a floor jack and dealt with that also. I have mine on 4x8x16 concrete blocks that I got from Lowes. I still don't have mine perfectly level, but it works. I need to do a little more tweaking on it.

Hey there. We ended up messing with it one more time. The front is on concrete blocks, and the rear (which is off the ground by over a foot) is still on the cross ties. Solid as a rock now, and totally level. Thanks a ton for watching, and thank you for your service!

Taking this all in. I'm getting my first container- I'm gonna need a bigger jack.

Congrats on getting a container!! The hi-lift jack is the way to go for lifting these things. Our ground was super wonky, which may have actually helped in making us level the box. Our brother-in-law bought a brand new container and just set it down on level-looking ground. Now we fights with the doors every time he tries to close them. Make sure to ventilate the container well. The box bakes in the sun, and the condensation rains down in the colder months. The vents helps alleviate both issues to some degree. I'll be putting out an updated lighting video soon. The repeated 100 degree days here caused the glue to finally begin to fail in our initial lighting setup. We'll also be putting out a shipping container door hack video soon. In short, plan to have some sandpaper, grease, WD-40 and Armor All on hand to make the doors super simple to open and close. It only takes about 15 minutes the first time you work on the doors, then 30 seconds every 6 months or so keep them working well. Congrats on your future purchase!

I just bought a container. Good deal,spur of the moment. Didn't have time to do proper foundation. Been looking at a lot of videos. Has anybody ever thought of using a Engine Hoist with a hook
@OurNewLand3 жыл бұрын
That should work. We plan on using a come-along strapped a tree when we need to move ours. An engine hoist would be much easier.
@cecilb32163 жыл бұрын
@@OurNewLand coma-along . That gives me another idea about moving it to build a gravel foundation. My car trailer with winch to pull it forward. Flat bed wrecker to put it back.

Sounds like a great idea. Thanks!

You need to cut you railroad ties into short corner pieces. 😁
@OurNewLand7 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching, Terry! We kept the railroad ties long to increase the footprint size, as this area of the property is very sandy. Even with the ties kept long, this shipping container has settled some over the three years we've had it, but mainly in the front where we are not using ties. Thanks again!

A lot of work but worth it in the end for sure.

For sure! That was just a temporary leveling, and it looks really junky. We hope to have it permanently leveled next month. Thanks for visit and the sub!
