Hey Karin! How are you? Would you consider make a video about how you used to organize your work, personal life, time, etc when you didn't have a team yet? Thank you!!

this will really really help!

Andrea M Hi! I would definitely consider it but to be honest I’ve always worked with a team so it would be almost impossible to consider how to do it without them!
@ren78156 жыл бұрын
Then a video on how each team member works within a project workflow will be great! and how do you assign work and work on a timeline, what is the workflow or timeline like, etc. This will greatly help Since our projects are on a much smaller scale, we singlehandedly do what all the team members do and we work on way fewer projects as we do not have a team to help. Hope that makes sense as to what can really help us? :) Thank you Karin! I love watching you hustle and doing your best ! Keep going, keep going :)

Disagreeing is man...soooo needed. Sometimes they see what you don’t see what you see and vice versa. Doesn’t mean any one person is better than the other. Every one is there to help the business grow & please the client. I love that you shared this! You’re such a great boss! xo
@vitasporan566 Жыл бұрын
You are my new BEST FREIND!!! When I heard you say that there needs to be disagreements on teams and that people should be able to, especially, disagree with the boss, it was like hearing words I have been saying, myself. I sooo wish we could do that where I work, because I've come to realize that with everyone holding back on what they really think, advancement gets stymied. It's only when folks share their thoughts (favorable or not) that progress can be truly made. I know that some people might think a lot about offending others, but to me, much of that comes from NOT being honest about ourselves. We've gotten too used to "political-correctness", and seem to have forgotten our individual humanity, which appears to have lead to an abundance of emotional sensitivity. We keep on the down-low what's really going on in our heads, and that prevents others from getting the chance to learn of valuable, alternate viewpoints. Thank you for making this statement in your video!!!! You're a boss, and not just a hired supervisor. You own the business! And so hearing this from you is, especially, appreciative.

Hey Karin, Just stumbled upon your youtube channel when I was researching life as an interior designer especially since I'm seriously contemplating a career change. What I really loved about all your videos is how 'real' you have kept them. Many career advice sites often describe the skills required but it is the daily work-life that is often overlooked. Thanks for being so honest & open. I'm definitely gonna keep following your videos!

So I have a quick story....this may sound silly but I never liked driving on the highway or tool roads.. I would aways try avoid long trips or take back roads to avoid the highway. It wasn't till recently, a friend if mind said that he has to drive long distances to his business that he invests in 3 times a week, and he said you have to get over that fear if you want to be successful. I have taken he courage to drive long distances to Dallas (which is very far for me) to go to conferences and festivals for my business and because I am attending these events, I am finally able to get this started with my business. Thank you for this video, it really has helped me.

Karin! Thank you so much for your advice on "levelling up." Those words were exactly what I needed to hear in my life in this very moment and I didn't even know it. I'm a 20 year old Biology major from Florida. I have been trying to make the switch to become an interior design major for the past year, but only three schools offer it here. One is a private art institute (which is expensive) and two are very far away from everything I know and love. I have found myself so conflicted over this but I truly think I can make this far move in order to pursue my dream. I've been watching you from the start and you inspire me a lot, I look up to you in several ways. Truly, I appreciate this video 💕

So happy to see your video in my feed❤️ You are such an inspiration! And I love how you are asking us to share bits of our lives as well. And I don't mind sharing at all: I am in fact deep into building my own life coaching business. I've been wanting to do so for years, but I just wasn't ready. This summer so much has changed in my life and I can feel that I am ready now. It's weird to say, but finally set up the business just seems like the natural next step. Still, I've held back with it. Until I realized that the lack of information how it works here in Germany actually kept me from going. You know the taxes, signing up for it etc. So three weeks ago or so I took up for a weekend class all about it and spent Friday through Sunday majorly learning about all of those things. It feels so good. And now I am ready to take the necessary steps 💪🏻 So that's a little piece of my life right now 😃 I am sending you lots of love from Berlin, xx Ronja

Great video Karin! Leveling up is where I am. Just left a K&B Design Firm 6 months ago and am doing really well. I am swamped actually. I have been watching your videos since you began and LOVE your content and your firm. My biggest question is--- HOW DO YOU GO FROM A SOLO FIRM TO HAVING A TEAM? WHERE DO YOU START? HOW DID YOU DO IT? Did you get a business coach? What person did you hire first?
@genevievedaily19836 жыл бұрын
karin you are so right about its not easy to grow but it can be great and amazing . especially when it comes to roles delegation, restructuring et al it will feel at the beginning you are trying to hurt people (staff who are used to one role and position ) but no that's not what it is. its clearly an organizational growth process. as you move up the ladder karin in organizational chart process, it will be difficult, you might loose some people in the process but see it as growth on the curve. its not going to be easy but i know you are tough and can handle this so goodluck and all the best.

Hi Karin! In one of your earlier videos you mentioned how when you are a busy entrepreneur and have to step aside to take care of work, people tend to call you out on it like it's a choice...whereas with a doctor they would say "oh they have to go, it's their work". That really resonated with me as a busy business owner who does not yet have a team and is carrying the workload completely on my own. It seems like when you try to affirmatively establish healthy boundaries, friends and family don't understand or take offense. Would you consider doing a video on managing/nurturing yet keeping healthy boundaries with those relationships as you grow your business? Thank you and much love from NY!! xo

Hello! So I love what you said about leveling up. I can definitely relate. Recently a possible amazing opportunity presented itself in a very interesting way. So to give a bit of a back story, I have been drafting since I was 12 (currently 31). No degrees or certificates. Primarily self-taught. So I've been "auditioning" for a position at a local firm. The owner loved my work but the projects that I was going to work on are coming to an end so he referred me to a woman that opened up her business 2yrs ago. I contacted her and we had a great conversation. We do a lot of the same things the same way. Basically we're on the same page about a lot of things. I emailed her some of my work and she loved it! So besides running her business she is also working full time for a Construction company. She is slammed with work for her business and was actually needing someone (crazy how this has all played out so far). My goal is to become the head of a design firm or own my own by the time im 40. This position would be a partnership. Do you think this would be a good thing to start with? Can you give any tips on how to be partners with someone successfully who has started the business on their own? Im so nervous that ill sabotage this. Lol. Thank you!!

Hi Karin! I just wanted to say I’ve been watching a lot of your videos for a while now but this feels like the right time to drop a note and say how inspiring they have been for me. Hugely because of watching your videos, I’ve recently decided to “level up” and follow my dream of becoming an Interior Designer. I started Basic training in September and we are just about to do midterms (time flies by so fast!). Prior to this I had been working full time but something has always been nagging at me to follow a different career path and watching you and your team has been truly inspiring for me. Being back at school is not without its challenges, of course. But I’ve learned to enjoy the journey one day at a time and having someone like you as a mentor (even if just through your YT videos) has been really great so I just wanted to say thank you! Lots of love from Manila! 💕
