I had a catheter placed a few weeks ago following ESWL lithotripsy surgery during which they placed a ureteral stent. The aftermath was less than ideal as I had a lot of bloody discharge so my brain made my bladder clam up unable to pee, so they placed a catheter for five days. After it was removed I think I suffered CAUTI. I don't think it was the fault of the medical provider who both inserted it and removed it five days later, though. I think it was just a complication and consequence of surgery, stent, catheter, bloody discharge, etc.
