He is not a hero. Let's stop giving this tyrannical bastards such tags. As soon as you kill an innocent life to keep your power you cannot be a hero under any circumstances. Seeing as Uganda was granted Independence and then Amin (with Obote) deposed the long-standing historical titular head of Buganda (the Kabaka - Mutesa II), who was also in alliance with Obote. Then, Amin would turn around and depose Obote and conduct the first racist deportation of peoples in modern Africa's History. After driving Uganda economically into the ground, he would then ally himself with Arab Nations for cash (the previous Slavers of East Africa) and engage in a war with his neighbour Tanzania (which he subsequently lost despite Gaddafi sending him his best troops). No, pretty typical for an Africa Leader in the 1960s and 70s ... nothing unexpected ... your modern rereading of History to portray him as a freedom fighter is again typical of the Age and not surprising either.

NO. Africa is the name the Greeks used for ancient Libya (the word Libya itself conversely was used for all of North Africa west of Egypt) and it is derived from the Ifri, a Berber tribe whose name means "cave-dwellers" and to this very day there is a city close to Tripoli, Libya called "Yifrin." In antiquity the rest of Africa where Black-skinned people lived was known as Aethiopia. At the time of Rome's war with Carthage and later during the Muslim conquests, Africa was the name of modern day Tunisia. (Scipio Africanus, the Roman general who defeated Hannibal, was called The African because he conquered what was then known as "Africa") It is only very recently that the word began to be used to refer to the whole continent. So originally, Africans had nothing to do with Blackness. Seeing Black Americans calling themselves "African Americans" makes no sense whatsoever when you keep all of the above in mind.

Amin's rule was characterised by rampant human rights abuses, including political repression, ethnic persecution, extrajudicial killings, as well as nepotism, corruption, and gross economic mismanagement. Respect?

After the indepenences in the 60s north Africa and the sub-sahara worked together and helped each other unt il some people in the sub-sahara started selling out so the arabes moved on without us and building their countries and economies while we sold each other and every inch of our counties to buy mansions in Europe and America.
