There's no need for a conspiracy : Amin made THE CHOICE to take over Uganda, not some controlling foreign mastermind ! That myth is as hoary as the "Nato killed Gaddhafi" one (i.e. his own people did it, with a bayonet up his rear - something no Nato pilot in the air overhead can do).

He is not a hero. Let's stop giving this tyrannical bastards such tags. As soon as you kill an innocent life to keep your power you cannot be a hero under any circumstances. Besides, he told the Ugandans what they wanted to hear; in reality, driving the British colonisers away from Uganda was really just to transfer corruption from the colonisers to himself. He didn't even conquer Britain, they willingly left.

Seeing as Uganda was granted Independence and then Amin (with Obote) deposed the long-standing historical titular head of Buganda (the Kabaka - Mutesa II), who was also in alliance with Obote. Then, Amin would turn around and depose Obote and conduct the first racist deportation of peoples in modern Africa's History. After driving Uganda economically into the ground, he would then ally himself with Arab Nations for cash (the previous Slavers of East Africa) and engage in a war with his neighbour Tanzania (which he subsequently lost despite Gaddafi sending him his best troops). No, pretty typical for an Africa Leader in the 1960s and 70s ... nothing unexpected ... your modern rereading of History to portray him as a freedom fighter is again typical of the Age and not surprising either.

How did "they" smear his name to be overthrown? Amin was a horrible joke in Uganda's history. He was overthrown after he invaded Tanzania only fir Nyerere to drive him back into Uganda. Abd sensing that Ugandan soldiers were far more weaker and indisciplined that he had imagined, Nyerere decided to march across the border and drive him out of Uganda. He was a tragic comedy.

In which time exactly happened that, because as a Greek, the only fact I know & ever knew, is that the discovered or the known part of Africa just called as Libya or Ethiopia from the ancient Greeks and the today's Tanzania area, as Azania. Also the today's Ethiopia as Abyssinia!!!Nothing else far from those!!!

NO. Africa is the name the Greeks used for ancient Libya (the word Libya itself conversely was used for all of North Africa west of Egypt) and it is derived from the Ifri, a Berber tribe whose name means "cave-dwellers" and to this very day there is a city close to Tripoli, Libya called "Yifrin." In antiquity the rest of Africa where Black-skinned people lived was known as Aethiopia. At the time of Rome's war with Carthage and later during the Muslim conquests, Africa was the name of modern day Tunisia. (Scipio Africanus, the Roman general who defeated Hannibal, was called The African because he conquered what was then known as "Africa") It is only very recently that the word began to be used to refer to the whole continent. So originally, Africans had nothing to do with Blackness. Seeing Black Americans calling themselves "African Americans" makes no sense whatsoever when you keep all of the above in mind.

Well, firstly he was a loyal servant for the British prior to independence - during his military service. Secondly, Britain was rapidly giving its Colonies up when Uganda became independent. The two World Wars and their collosal debt, coupled with American aacendancy were the two biggest factors for the collapse imo. However, all Empires rise and fall. C'est la vie.

Uganda became independent on October 9th 1962. Idi Amin did not become president until 1971 after initiating a military coup. That is hardly defeating the British Empire. His biggest monument was a huge minaret that was so badly built it curved like a banana and could not be finished, plus bullet holes in Kampala University Uganda was in turmoil with a wrecked economy until after Museveni finally re-united it in 1986.
